sl0wda9's Intregra build
This will be my OFFICIAL build thread from start to "finish". It is a 1990 Acura Integra with 160k miles on the odometer. Clean body (few minor dents) and a clean title. I have owned a few Hondas and a few other projects but this one is permanent and im going all out on it. I got the car sometime late November of 2009, I traded an 88 crx Si for it.
When I got tthe integra I immediately parked it on the driveway and started working on it, pulled out the stock LS engine and transmission, and then it started. Never thought I was going to take it this far but once i started taking it apart I just wanted to do more and more, I'm going for a street legal track car. I have a lot of plans for my integra like a boosted b series motor, painted and tucked engine bay, weight reduction, gutted yet clean interior with a cage and a couple recaro's, nice suspension set-up, and a nice set of 15 or 16" wheels and a set of slicks for track time..Just to name a few. Maybe some magazine coverage!?!? Hey I can dream..
just added new photos of the beginning:

No I will probably keep the abs, everything will be taken out of the bay so I can paint the bay and put back the least amount of parts needed and relocate everything and make it look clean. Im sure I'll leave out the AC, the cruise control, and a few other things here and there.

Re: sl0wda9's Intregra build
Not sure yet.. anything from a built and boosted LS to a boosted Type R. I havent decided, im kinda lagging it but taking my time. I dont have all the cash for the swap yet anyways so i'm just workin on the car still as much as I can. When Im done she should be pretty. It will be a lot of $ and twice as much wrench time but I'll do as much work myself that I can handle, and it will be worth it in the end.

With the LS transmission too?
I've been thinking about it. Read that the LS motor is good for boost because there is no vtec to worry about effecting the turbo. I also thought about lsv. Heres a pic of my stock motor almost completely apart. I cant get the clutch bolt off, and therefore the pistons out. I assume I was supposed to break that loose a long time ago before I got this far but.. Its hard to keep the motor from turning and trying to break the bolt loose at the same time. My impact couldnt break it either. I wanted to completely clean the old LS block and bring it back to life in case I re-use it. But im at a stand still on it so I've gone back to the engine bay. The rain all weekend slowed me down!

No the hood was the same color as the car and not damaged but for some reason the paint on it was really dull from sitting in the sun in someones backyard for years So I just primered it. The headlights on it were some jdm 1 piece head lights and they were fine...

Re: sl0wda9's Intregra build
Honestly, I dont have a one-stop-shop kinda place that I go to buy or look for parts. For something as simple as a strut brace you can almost get those anywhere. Lately, I have been searching craigslist for stuff like that and have come across some good deals. I see megans on ebay every now and then but it depends if you wanna order online or buy it direct..

Re: sl0wda9's Intregra build
Im trying to get the dash off tomorrow so I can have the engine bay completely empty. I've taken out everything I can get out that doesnt have to go through the firewall. Im itching to pull out the wiring harness, clutch cable, and the throttle cable so I can start working on prepping the engine bay. Just out of curiosity..Anyone have a color suggestion?

This is cool. I just recently bought a 90' GS and it's been sitting in my garage....just waiting. I love projects like this, gives me some motivation. Good luck!!!

Re: sl0wda9's Intregra build
Im getting more and more into this build as I go along. This is just the beginning.
Finally, I think shes as naked as I need her. My build can start!
Lets start off with the engine bay..
Just a sample color. What you think? I think its alriight. Im gonna lay another coat of primer before I start to paint. The interior will match the engine bay..

Let your imagination wonder, and go with it.. " Before you make a move you gotta think about your actions, think about the consequences before they happen. You gotta be smarter than the next man or the captain cause they always seem to have a plan, **** the plan its not your deal, dont do what they say cause its not what you feel"!!!

Re: sl0wda9's Intregra build
Started by degreasing the engine bay with oven/grill cleaner (works awesome) and scrubbed it with a brush. After that I rinsed it down and let it dry. After it was dry I scrubbed the engine bay with scotch brite pads, and then blew it out with an air compressor. I used Dupli-Color grey filler primer (rattle can) to start with. I wont get back to painting until probably this weekend. I'd like to spray it with my compressor but I dont own a pray gun. The paint you see there was Dupli-Color Metal specks (copper color). I bought one can just see how it looks. I was pretty impressed. I can usually pull off a pretty good looking paint job with spray paint although I'd like to use a sprayer. After I lay the paint I will finish it off with a clear coat.

Re: sl0wda9's Intregra build
Theres an indefinate change of plans.. I will be be using my compressor and a paint sprayer gun to paint everything. I bought a bunch of paint supplys, So I will kinda start over with the engine bay and I will repaint my car as well. I tested it out on the two fenders I removed and they came out awesome and it was sooo much faster than using a rattle can. I cant believe I ever used spray paint..

Re: sl0wda9's Intregra build
Ok so here its, This was my first time at an attempt at a "REAL" paint job.. The whole car including the engine bay and interior will be painted this "mettalic hugger orange".. I started with the hood to see how it will come out. I will paint the hood, fenders, and the front bumper sepertate and inside the garage to save some headache running around the whole car trying to paint it.. So heres how the hood came out:
sanded down and ready to start
Me, looks like im struggling lol
The finished result, I still need to buff and polish it though
Tomorrow I will start working on the front bumper and fenders as well as sand down the paint on the car and mask off what needs to be masked off
