Default Skunk2 rear sway bar vs. oem itr

given both are 22mm, is there any benefit in getting the Skunk2 over the itr bar?

I think the skunk2 bar might be more expensive I believe, and you still need the sub frame re-enforcement kit for both. I like the OEM cause, well it's OEM...but that is my opinion.

would that help the car rotate.. maybe even to much and create some major oversteer.

Just my opinion but if there was a major benifit to using a 26mm bar don't you think the Type R would have it? I mean it can't be that much more expensive to put a 26mm bar on a car vs. a 22mm bar. Just my $.02!

But your making it sound like a Type-R is all powerful and cannot be improved upon?

Acura still had to make the ITR Safe to Drive (for the idiots), so the answer is no they would not put a 26mm bar on the car even if it was way better.

funk dat.. no hole in roof equals a more solid body with less weight.

What is the sub frame re-enforcement kit. Does skunk and acura each provide a kit for their bar?

do you guys even know wat a swaybar does? it help the car stay stable in sharp turns, so your car dont flip. so bigger is better.

Do some searches and you'll see that swaybars can have an adverse effect on the handling of your car if your not smart about the way you do things, lets say you get this monster 26mm swaybar and no front bar and have never driven your car anywhere but the streets.....and take an onramp too fast and.....SLAM!!! Right into the gaurdrail, but it'll probably be oversteer.

no the kit doesn't come with either. you have to get a BSQ or a beaks kit. I made mine the same way as the BSQ kit and it works fine.

If it did create to much oversteer you could always get a thicker front bar and reduce it. That way you will get more stability in the turns with out to much oversteer.

funk dat.. no hole in roof equals a more solid body with less weight.
Exactly, which is why I love my RS

A Mugen 26mm rear swaybar is generally going to cause handling balance to be towards oversteer. Also, the Mugen 26mm rear swaybar is used by guys that drive their car on the track and they want some oversteer in their car. Now oversteer is not really ideal for street driving because if the rear end of the car breaks loose you may loose control of the car, so I really wouldn't recommend it.

A 22mm rear swaybar is much more suited for the street, because the handling balance is towards neutral (ie. no understeer and no oversteer). HTH

Here is the link to my BSQ mounting kit: http://www.geocities.com/bretq/mounting_kit.html

Also, here is the link ( http://www.geocities.com/bretq/swaybar_install.html ) to the Type-R rear swaybar installation instruction, which contains all the necessary parts and the necessary steps for the installation.
