Should I replace the tensioner spring?
My car is about to hit 180,000 miles, and this weekend I will be putting on the car's 3rd timing belt, along with a new water pump, tensioner pulley, camshaft seals, front main oil seal, new spark plugs, fuel filter, etc.
Unfortunately when I was ordering parts I did not think to order a new tensioner pulley spring. Should I replace it since I do have nearly 180K miles? I can't get one before this weekend, maybe replace it later on when I have a chance?

I am a tech at an acura dealer and everytime we recommend a t-belt service, we recommend replacing the spring. They really do loose their tension over time and it will be hard to get the tension set correctly when finishing everything up.

Of subject, 180k!!!! I thought I had high miles. I have 155k on my '94 GSR. And yeah, replace the tensioner spring. I just ordered it. I'm also gonna do the timing belt/waterpump/tensioner/spring....etc. Good Luck!

crap, I can't get one before this Saturday, and I'm at 178,500 now, I'll be past 179K before next weekend.
NO dealers around here stock it.

Re: (PatrickGSR94)
damn...its your third time replacing a timing belt?? I have a 95 gsr and it has 170k miles and never changed timing belt, water pump, or my old beat up clutch.....I need to though. Knock on wood...before it snaps on me....but defenitly my clutch squeeks big time (only on 1st gear when Im balancing out my clutch and gas pedal) and its pretty embarrasing.....

no, this will be the 3rd timing belt I'm putting on the car... only the 2nd water pump, though, it's currently still on the original water pump.

180K...you should be on your 5th TB. I always do the WP, ans tensioner at the same time. save headaches/trouble/time in long run
