Should Acura have to fix this....

Re: Should Acura have to fix this.... (len)
I had something like this happen to a G2. Someone hit my fender (I had arch moldings) and the paint started to rust there after a couple years. I believe the impact, while absorbed by the molding, still cracked the paint, which got water in it over this time.

nope. the car isnt low enough to hit. i've still got the factory tires on it w/ neuspeed sport springs so there is plenty of room

Mainly because it looks like something non-paint related. Factory paint will not flake like that unless acted upon by an outside force.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I didnt get a good shot at it, but there is a spot where the factory paint is cracking on the bottom behind the tire too. i'm taking it to acura monday morning to see what they say about it. there isnt a dent on the entire car so i know its not b/c something hit it. the cracks in other areas would not make sense then

Yea, RUST warranty means mainly frame. Your paint obviously came off in some kind of mishap, and if there's no paint or protectant layer over the metal fender, of course its gonna rust. no biggie, its not like its damaged, its just a cosmetic thing. if you put it into perspective, it would be equivalent to keying your fender, let it sit just ONCE in the rain, and it will rust. I can almost guarantee that the dealership isnt going to cover anything b/c of the fact that it's a result of cosmetic damage caused by OUTSIDE FORCE.

not always true. back when I had an Eclipse, the car rusted in the same spot as his and I bought the car brand new and nothing ever hit it. it just rusted under the paint and cracked thru the paint. Could have been a flaw and something rusted under the paint or something. Acura should fix it no questions asked, mine was fixed.

you could fix that one your self easy sand it with a little sand paper then hit with touch up paint . because if the dealer would fix it there gonna charge you a dick and ball anyway.

i was under the impression that the warranty only covered rust-through. meaning surface rust would not be covered.
warranty is 5 years/unlimited miles though.

Exactly what I was gonna say, just sand down the surface and itll come right off and use touch up paint, it's not damaged in any way by rust, just a tiny surface rusting....... But seeing as this guy hooked you up @ the dealer, thats ******* phat!!! I am sure that this particular guy was very cooand u got lucky, and it's not likely that many other people w/ things like this will have it fully covered by the dealership.

Re: (wickedik)
The manual states 5 year unlimited body rust warranty. It also says the rust will be fixed if it perforates the metal. That is not, so I doubt they will but it never hurts to ask.
PS honda turned me down for a rear wheel well on my 98 civic last year. It rusted under that dumb *** rubber strip, however not all the way through so it wasn't covered.
Good Luck
