I am having an b&m short shifter in my 94 teg, but looking for something shorter. PLease advise.

do you mean that the shifts are still too long, or do you want your shifter to be physically shorter?

The B&M is the shortest aftermarket shifter I've felt...and it already barely touches my exhaust piping. Anything shorter and you'd have problems.

haha short shifter is shortest, it'll get shorter if you can break half of the thread on the shifter and bolt the shift **** in still work...and IF YOU WANT IT SHORTER

replace your 4" 8====D~~`` for ur shifter and ur ***** for shift boot...pull a condom on for shift **** ....lol im just kidding man..

there are discussions that having short shifters sacrifices the life of your transmission (syncros)

If you want a short shifter try installing a Civic short shifter (single bend) in your Teg. I had some generic Civic shifter in my car and it had shorter throws than my Skunk2 Teg shifter. The only problem was that the position of the shifter was a little bit farther than the stock or skunks shifter. But I never really noticed for the 2+ years I had one. You just get used to it. I also had to add some washers to keep it from rattling at high rpm's.

Not sure what year it was for but I think the '99-00 Civic aftermarket short shifter would work. Don't take my word without checking first. I originally bought the shifter from someone that told me it was for a Teg but I'm guessing they lied.

I don't like a shifter that leans back while in neutral, a la the Civic shifter. I like the dual bend myself (straight up in neutral).

I took 3 pics on a tripod, pasted 2 of them into the 3rd pic as separate layers and changed the transparency of the layers (photoshop).

BS, I've had mine on my car for about 3 years now, over 80K miles. The tranny has 180K total on it and still shifts like butta, no grinds whatsoever unless I myself make an error.

let me explain it...the short shifter...have the thread about 2" long...if you got the right tools you can cut 1" of the thread off and the shift **** still can fit in..there you got 1" shorter for short shifter...i wish have some picture for you to make you believe me

and the joke dick replacement for short shifter,,,,it's a joke man..man you got no sense of humor

I agree w/ that right there, I've read numerous threads that the only thing that kills the synchros is you, the driver. Patrick, when you say autozone short shifter, are you talking about one of those $20 things I was assuming to be POS? Or is there something I'm missing?

ok, heres MO about tranny life and short shifters, a short shifter in it's self cannot damage a tranny/ people say since it drops the shift linkage lower it messes with the shift fork and blah blah, well if you have ever taken a tranny apart you will notice a metal plate, known as the shift gate, it is cut out in the pattern that you shift the gears, the shifkt linkage mates up with the selector rod and the rod has a pin that goes through the slots in the shift gate, this shiftgate is what keeps the alignment. now what CAN hurt your tranny is constantly using the short shifters ability,m IE slamming gears as fast as you can as the increased leverage puts a higher force on the synchro's, sleeves selector forks. so as long as you don't constanly slam every gear you are fine.. well that is MO.

i've had a skunk 2 for a hwile and loved it. throws were short and positive. only problem is the hardware that came wiht it sucked and it ended up breaking the spacer and rattling loose.

I dunno, I bought my shifter almost 3 years ago from AutoZone. It was about $40 at the time. They had 2 on the shelf - single bend which said was for 90-93 Integras and 92-00 Civics, and the dual bend that I have, which said was for 94-01 Integras... although you can use either in any of those 3 cars.

The shifter is indeed aluminum, and looks exactly like the DC Sports shifters. Now I know there have been numerous stories of DC shifters breaking off at the threads, but I've had no such problems. I've used both the stock shift ****, which obviously attaches to the threads, for tens of thousands of miles without issue. I've also used that Razo **** seen in the pic I posted which attached below the threads w/ set screws for tens of thousands of miles. Again, no problems.

The shifter did come with spacers, but they weren't thick enough for the Integra shift linkage. I did have to add some washers to the through-bolt, but I also used a lock washer to keep it all pressed together, and I have never had problems with rattling as long as I've had it. The shifter has sealed bearings in the bottom, which gives a very positive shift feel, and by using one spacer on each side of the shifter, the bearings can rotate independently of the shifter, allowing the through-bolt to be fully tightened without affecting the effort required to move the shifter.

Now if you do ALOT of racing, yeah a steel Skunk2 shifter would probably be a good idea. But for me, it's every bit as good as a Skunk2 shifter.

*edit* oh and B&M shifters suck IMHO. They don't have the bearings in the bottom and require you to reuse the stock o-rings and pieces from the stock shifter, which makes it retain some of the "rubbery" feel of the stock shifter, which I don't like.

Hm... I wonder if these are still around. I'm scared away from the really cheap $20 ones but then again, I guess if they have the sealed bearings than an aluminum shifter wouldn't be that bad.

When you say that it will fit on any of the three cars, does that mean I can buy a dual bend even if it isn't specified for my g2? My concern is that it will rattle against the exhaust or not fit or something...

I had the B&M short shifter for over a year and you can't go wrong with the quality for the price. I bought mine for 65 bucks shipped w/ new bushings from http://www.cartunerz.com . It is a straight bend but isn't bad at all. I don't see why people wan't the shortest shifter. The shorter it is, the notchier it gets. I rather have the perfect feel than the looks and the B&M fits the bill.

I've got a $20 Autozone shortshifter too...I've had it almost as long as PatrickGSR94, and never had a problem, I figured what the hell, it's a piece of metal with threads on one end and a bearing and linkage attachment on the other, I can't see paying a small fortune for something SO SIMPLE....

I agree w/ that mentality, I think I'm going to go get one now. I'm just wondering what Patrick meant by washers, for some sort of spacing? I'm a little lost on that part...
