Default Service Light Question

Whenever I start my car (1995 Integra SE) or even just flip the key to the on position, the Maintenance Required (MAINT REQD) light on my dash board blinks off and on like 8 times, then shuts off. Is this normal?... because if it is, i have never noticed it doing that before......... I thought it just stays on for a couple seconds along with all the other indicators then goes away, i dont remember it flashing at me

I only have 82,000 miles on my car. Is there a button underneath the steering column that resets the light when in goes on permanently? I change oil regularly etc. so i dont understand why i need "maintenance" done on my car unless the light is timed just so that the dealerships can suck money from you when all they do is turn off the light anyhow. Obviously i plan on changing my timing belt at 90,000 miles, but until then, i just dont see why my car needs maintenance it runs fine.

my 97 rs light recently did the same. At about 88k miles the light would light on and eventually go out. I googled 90k mile and its jsut a bunch of hose checks etc that get your money for nothing. Im going to change timing belt/water pump soon.

Right behind the panel that is right above your gas pedal there is a small blue button. Put the key in acc and hold it down till light goes out. Viola light goes away.

check the owners manual, i read it once in there that the light comes on for 2 seconds the first 3k miles, then comes on for 2 seconds then blinks for 10 seconds up until 7,500 miles "past due", then it just stays on until like 12 or 15k miles "past due" and eventually just shuts off....

it's just a reminder light, activated by mileage.....as stated before, just hold the blue button right above ur pedals until it goes away, rreeeeeaaalll easy fix.
