Default reset ecu after each mod?

i was told by a friend that its better to reset the ecu after you put parts on your car so your car will notice you have different parts. Is this necessary and is their any out come of this ? just curious.

no... you really don't have to.

although, you could if you want. you really won't gain much, if any at all.

Depend on the mod. If engine related, intake/exhuast the fuel trim will be reset and the ECU will relearn new values. The ECU continually adjusts so if you don't you'll still end up with the same result down the road.

EXACTLY. You dont necessarily "have to" do it, but it never hurts. After doing big mods... ie. cams, manifold, etc. then I would reset the ecu.

i would just cause it takes 10 mins. just disconnect the negative from the battery for a couple mins...reconnect it, start up the car (do not press gas or anything), wait til fans start going, shut off car...turn car back on and your ready to drive.

what you do to reset the ecu is remove the ecu and ecu backup fuse from the fuse box under the hood...put them back in and run car for about 10 min.
