Re: removed cluster car wont start after help!!
Temp. gauge should be on and the abs light. Because you got the wrong year of gsr cluster. Now you got to swap it out or buy another one that is compatible. There is a tread on how to swap it, but you got to find it.

yeah i swapped the film in the back. everything works except for the temp. well on cold starts the temp guage will work till its get to the middle. then it would just drop back down to cold. anyone?

it drops all the way to cold, like below the "C"? or does it go about 1/4 of the way toward the "C"? Is this an obd1 cluster?

Re: removed cluster car wont start after help!!
maybe that was just a coincidence where it didnt start. but i started it like 30mins after it didnt want to start and it was fine. wonder why it did that. i will swap temp gauges tmrw. but this starting problem.. i checked all fuses, starter is fairly new, battery is good.. what can it be? when it didnt start or crank, i heard a click coming from the dash only. anybody got an idea?

Temp guage is probably just bad. I had my civic do that and i've also driven a car without a cluster so i don't think thats the reason yours wouldn't start. Goodluck

i've actually taken the gauge out and run the wires right from the plug to the back of the guage and it works. So if the green film is messed up you can run a wire to bypass it or if the wire is loose in the plug maybe you can check that...or on the other end where the fuel guage unit is check the wires and plug there.

Bump. Personal experince in this. The cluster is wired in series with the starter signal fuse. I tested it personally, You cannot start the car w/out the cluster plugged in. Just hook in the three connectors and see if it starts.
This was the reason I had cluster out

Re: removed cluster car wont start after help!!
the new guages are gray and my original one is black. i swaped the both outside guages (fuel and temp.) because they are both black. so its black on the outside and gray on the inside (rpm and speed). i didnt want to just swap the temp guage because then i would have one black on the left and the rest are gray. haha hope all that makes sense.
ill check the wiring but it should be still good. i say that because the green film and the fuel guage were both from my original cluster that worked fine. ill try running it directly to the guage.
sounds like a loose connection, there are only three wires going to the guage... yel/wht (B1) fuel guage unit, blk(d6) ground, yel/blu (d4) power
