rear brake caliper not lining up
Everything was fine until about a week ago when the car started eating up the rear left pad. I took it apart last night and thought the piston would be seized, but no. I turned the piston all the way flush, put new pads on and when I went to tighten the slide bolts up, the last few turns make the caliper twist twist a bit and put pressure on the rotor, preventing it from turning. If I back it off a little, it is fine and lined up allowing the rotor to turn freely. The rotor isn't in bad shape despite having the entire pad ground into it over a week. As soon as the bolts are tightened to any resisance, the rotor starts getting harder to turn. Really wierd and I spent an hour playing with everything and couldn't figure it out. I've replaced the all the brake components on the car, some more than once and never had any difficulty. Help please!

Re: rear brake caliper not lining up (the barst)
Stupid question....but you sure you have the correct pads on the rear? They're incredibly small. Hehe.
Make sure you turn the piston all the way in (I think you're doing this already, right?) Turn it ALL THE WAY until it doesn't go in any further.
Can you somehow clamp the caliper as you tighten it? Is there a washer on the part where there is the rubber accordian piece? I've seen them on some Hondas and not others. I assume, it would somehow keep the the assembly straight as you screwed it in.
Is the thread messed up? Might have to retap it. I don't think the pistson would be messed up...it's a single piston made to push both. So unless both sides were screwed up, then I dunno dude.
Good luck.

Re: rear brake caliper not lining up (shamoo)
I can hold it in place while I screw in the bolts until the last 1/8th of an inch. At that point the caliper shifts a little as it aligns with the bolt head. The problem is after it lines up, it is crooked to the rotor.

Sounds like something's bent. I vote for the caliper slide pin/bolts. Open those rubber boots & take the pins out. Check to see if they are bent.
