Default Opinions for New Car?

So I am in the marketplace for another car, was wondering if I can get some feedback on it.

I always liked the style of the Integra, and want a 5 speed car. I drive a Stock 99 Civic LX, with a D16Y7 non-v-tec and lookin for something a little faster.

What should I look for when searching for a used teg?

I just want something with v-tec and responds well to bolt ons like intake, header, and exhaust.

What kind of engine is best for my needs, and what prices would i be looking at?

Thank you.

Integra Gsr. Pricing depends on the area. The best thing you can do is invest in a tuning system and a wideband when you get what ever you get. You will be able to compensate for every mod you do and you will be able to see how the car responds to it.

Considering the only Integra that came from a factory with a DOHC VTEC (in your price range) was a Gs-R. I myself own a DB8 and I am in love with it. The b18c1 that comes in a Gs-R or the c5 from the ITR would be plenty to keep a smile on your face. You could find a somewhat nice DC2/DB8 for 4k-6k (6k being pretty nice). You have to be more specific on what Gen Integras you like. There was also a DA Integra (Gs-R that was avaliable, which also came with a B17 DOHC VTEC).

I heard that GS-R's a lot of them grind into 3rd gear.

I do like the style of them, I am looking at a 97 I like that style.

What is the difference between an LS and GS-R motor? LS has less power and no v-tec eh?

In simplest terms, yes. As well as lower compression and a wee little bit more displacement. It also doesn't have the 2 stage intake manifold among other differences

Get an original (92-93) GSR. They are rare and you will get respect if you have a clean original DB2. There were less DB2's produced than USDM ITR's

listen to him^^^

you can slap all the bolts on you want and mod the **** out of it but you won't get the same throttle response and smoothness that you would out of a properly tuned car. i only say this because i have a b20v setup with your basic bolt ons(i/h/e along with skunk 2 mani, fuel rail, etc) and it was nice to drive but i got it dyno tuned and holy ****, you notice the difference immediately, runs incredibly smooth. it's much more fun to drive now!

it depends on how the car has been driven if it will grind i have one that doesnt but before i got it sold a civic that 2nd and 3rd grinded make sure everythign works on it look for rust on the rear quarter panels listen to see if the axleshafts make any noise..check all the fluids to give u an idea of how its been maintained they dont have a full back seat if thats an issue for you only two people will be able to ride in the back shop around a good deal will come up

If your gonna get a integra get a 98'' gsr! there cheap these days less than $5,000 sometimes, dont listen to people that say they all grind 3rd gear eventually, its the dumb inexperienced drivers who beet the crap out the trans not knowing how to shift and constantly trying to down shift to 3rd to race someone! find a adult driven 98'' spec gsr and get one with low miles as you can. the 98'' spec platform is allot better than the civics and younger integra, it came with a better looking front and rear bumper as well as head lights which are more aero dynamic. you will love it trust me!

doesnt take much to make it look like this or mine lol its what you want and dont waiste your time or money on any thing else, above that imo you should get a wrx there just around the same price range sometimes and there awd and turbo charged and alot more fun to drive but mainentence is a whole diffrent story! or save a bit more and get a 98'' spec ITR i almost got a mint cond. salvage from stolen title one for $7,000.

clean title? just do a thorough check on the vehicle when you go inspect it. make sure you get enough seat time to be able to check for any issues with the transmission, suspension, etc. and of course, all the other normal checks. pics are small but looks clean.

[sarcasm] Well better looking front end and headlights definately make it a better platform. LOL [/sarcasm]

Everything you said is an opinion. And most people disagree and say a 94-97 front end looks better.

Does it have white wheels on one side and steelies on the other? Hard to tell much from small lackluster quality pictures. Just give it a good look over. I'm sure you will be fine.

Please find me a clean title '98 GSR, that isn't beat, with less than 160k, for under 5 grand, in CA. It can't be done. You're smoking rock son.

It all depends how the car has been treated, i personally wouldn't buy a car with 150,000 miles or more.

Not too much faster

Okay cool, yea i been searching c list for a while and there is mostly LS's I wanted a GS-R though oh well..

Also is it more difficult to turbo a V-Tec car?

And is turboing a car hard in general? i would take it to a shop how much would they usually cost to put on? just want to run somerhing small on stock internals maybe 5-7 psi.

Just to throw something else out there that most people seem to be oblivious to, there are more models than just LS and GS-R, they are most common. However probably be best to stay away from the RS base model, lacks a lot of comforts. There are also the SE and GS models both the same, equivalent to the GS-R without the drivetrain and suspension, however I believe they have a beefier swaybar than the LS. I have an SE and love it, leather interior, and stock wheels shared with the GS-R model. Although I wouldnt mind vtec and a slightly shorter geared transmission. In general I would say a non GS-R is still going to be a lot nicer of a car than most of the standard mid to late 90's cars on the road, Acura has a fairly high base standard being a luxury auto maker.

no its the body and suspension and disc brakes! that make it a better platform, and like i said the head lights and whole front end was designed to be more aero dynamic! not a "better platform" do your research son!

i think not! i have not seen one person go from a 98'' front end to a 97 cause they think it looks better.

hahaha, that last one is sketchy at best. The first one does look promising though, I'll admit. Well, SOUNDS promising anyway.

I can disagree with that comment...I had a 99 Gs-R and went 96 front end, because I liked the look of the fogs and Sir-G lip better than 98 spec ITR lip and 98 fogs that look tacky.

Just comes down to prefrence, i do like the 97 itr look, infact i like the honda tuning magazine that featured two CW itr's, one was a 98 spec other was a 97 spec, i believe both were owned by the same dude.
