My rs*r gtII has no resonator after the cat and sounds really really good in town, but on the highway it is not bad. Another thing could be what type of tranny you got and what rpm you are cruisen at. At around 80 mine, sound wise, starts to get much louder, which I think is around 4grand. Now at say 70 and then go into WOT it gets loud also.

i got i think the same setup, thermal R&D exhaust, no resonator, hollow cat. and i was at the point where i cant have a conversation in the car, i just today installed some sound deadening... all in the spare tire well, all the way up to under the rear seats. and some in the doors just for kicks. still waiting for it to dry, cant try it out yet.

I have a 96LS. Im at about 3600RPMs at 80 and its horrible!

Tell me about this "sound deadening". I`ve never heard of anything like that. At first I thought you were talkin about Dynamat or something. But then you said it wasnt dry.

Anyway, I also have a small exhaust leak at my cat. Not even noticeable unless your head is right next to it.

forget sound deadening, add a resonator or cat

edit: just saw you have a cat, if its still the stock cat and not gutted then i am betting its more the leak then the exhaust

Could put a new cat on instead of using the gutted one. If you aren't running big power then it's not that beneficial, and in your case, i think you would appreciate the sound deadening it would provide over the .5-1 hp you get by gutting it.

My cat is actually not gutted. Its the stock cat. I also dont know if I made myself clear on the 2.25". I had 2.25" piping ran from the cat back.

Why would you not have a resonator? It has a huge effect on the sound volume, and has virtually no effect on performance.

I have a Thermal R&D "Stealth" exhaust and it sounds great. It's not too loud.

the Drone is quite annoying... especially at freeways speeds. anyone try this?

Seems the DSM guys used the Borla exhaust as a resonator to quiet it down.

it's loud...i bought my 3" thermal for about a month. I couldnt bear the loud sound so I bought a Vibrant resonator. Big difference...

I love my 3" Thermal, definately quieter than other fart cans I hear Honda's running around with.
