OBD1 Engine with OBD2 Distributor
I have a poor mans fully built ITR boosted with P28 running Hondata. Also have a new Rywire engine harness.
I started out with an OBD1 distributor, it started to fail. I replaced the cap, rotor and coil and it still had problems. I ended up buying a new Duralast Gold from Autozone which was a mistake cause it ended up failing on the Dyno. I ended up getting a low mileage obd2 dizzy from Hmotorsonline along with a Rywire obd1 to obd2 adapter.
Now I am throwing code 8 (TDC). I contacted Hmosotorsonline and they said it might be the harness so they sent me another one. Installed that today and I'm still throwing code 8. My friend brought over another obd2 dizzy and before I tried it, I installed new coil, cap and rotor. Fired up..... With code 8....
Anyone else have problems using an obd2 dizzy with an obd1 engine? What could it be? Hmotorsonline said they tested the one they sent me and they always have good parts...... Not sure what to do, my car isn't reliable and I need it fixed asap.

Re: OBD1 Engine with OBD2 Distributor
Put my original obd1 dizzy back on and the check engine light did not come on right away. Took some driving and then code 8 came again. Got my ecu tested and it is good. So considering my new obd1 dizzy worked for a while and the obd2 ones have been problematic I am fairly certain there's a problem with the conversion harness. I do have a new engine harness but I will be testing the resistance to make sure there is no problems there. I think I just need a good, low mileage oem obd1 Honda dizzy to finally solve this issue.

Finally figured it out. Rywire harnesses are GARBAGE. Brand new harness had loose connections on the ecu plugs. Had to solder new pins on....

I had the same issue with my Rywire harness. Like u said the plugs tend to be loose. I figured it out and just pushed the connector snug into the slot and it has been doing just fine ever since.
