No sound from aftermarket stereo. Anybody got any troubleshooting ideas?
I have a mostly stock '00 Integra with an Alpine stereo (http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/cde-103bt). Out of the blue today, the sound stopped working. The stereo lights up and everything seems to be working correctly, but there's nothing coming out of the speakers. There's no hissing or anything, just dead silence. The sticker on the stereo shows March 2010, so it's not very old. I pulled the stereo out and the wire connections look OK. I bought this car a couple months ago with the stereo already installed.
Anybody have ideas on what it could be?

So they all stopped working at once?
Were they all working before?
Have you tried disconnecting the radio from power then reapply it to "reset" it
Try turning it up all the way, the speakers should be producing a buzzing sound. If not there's. Probably something wrong inside the unit

Up to this point, the only issue I was having with the stereo was that the face would sometimes lose its connection to the stereo; when I'd hit the button to go to the next song, sometimes, the face would go blank and then look like it was just connected. It'd take a couple tries to switch songs.
I haven't tried disconnecting the stereo, I'll do that tomorrow. There's definitely no buzzing, just completely silent. I turned up the volume **** to max and still nothing.

My headunit, since it flips down when the key is turned off, wore the connections down. Thus making the unit randomly turn off and on. I took a wire brush to the connections and it works like new now.
Might try that?

So I unplugged it today, and the sound's back. Wierd. Should've tried that before making the thread. Thanks for the ideas.

Check your speakers and speaker leads, it sounds like the HUs thermo protection circuit kicked in, [a short in a speaker or speaker lead will trigger the HUs protection circuit, turning off the internal amp] unplugging the HU will reset the circuit.
If it happens again, check the speakers and leads, it the circuit is triggered too many times it will fail.94

I'll keep that in mind. AFAIK the speakers are stock, but maybe one of them is on its way out?

How/what exactly do I check for on my speakers? I do have a multimeter.

Set meter to continuity, connect one meter probe to chassis ground then touch the other probe to each speaker lead, there should be no continuity, test is for short to ground.
Connect one probe to one speaker lead, touch the other probe to each of the other speaker leads, do this with each speaker lead, test is to check for one speaker lead shorting to another speaker lead.
Set meter to OHMS, connect meter probes to each pair of speaker leads, readings should be around 3.5 OHMs, test is to make sure speakers VC is not shorted out. 94
