no compression after new valves.
Single y8. new valves to replace burnt ones did all 16 I've done this at least 5 times on winter cars I've owned etc. It always went smooth timing it 100% spot on it's a D so easy to set, I did reuse my HG like always new OEM Honda studs. Why do I have no compression when my timing is 100% on and I put new valves in? I've done this plenty with never a hick up.
prefect timing
HG reused like the other 8 times I've had single cam heads off
new OE-Replacement valves as always
40/60/0/0 comp previous 2 were above 100 tho very low

Re: no compression after new valves.
Took the cam girdle off so all the valves would be sealed did the tests again netted the same numbers.... how on earth could the hg cause such a massive (100+psi) loss. I did this on my first car and netted 180+ comp from virtually all 4 under 80psi.
car never overheated but I was never able to comp test it on day 1 so I have no clue if this was from the start.

Did you check the valve lash? it just might be the used head gasket.

No I've never had a car that needed it, i'm getting flamed in the civic section honestly I may have crumped it at the side of the pully. But lets say I did crumple it slightly etc could it really do that much hard to compression. i'm going to pull the head and see I was missing a head dowel too.

im trying to sell the thing i'm going to loose 60% of what I paid if this was my tegg or truck i'd just go buy the part. it just seems crazy that the hg would do that the stem seals were suggested to but **** that if I have to do those.

Re: no compression after new valves.
Jesus, man, do a leak down test on it, if you REALLY want to know where your compression is going. Don't have a leak down tester? Rent/borrow one from Autozone or similar. Don't have the cash to rent one? Make one with an old spark plug, air line and some JB Weld.
Basically, you have to find a way to force compressed air down into the cylinder while it's at TDC... from there, check the throttle body, exaust pipe, dipstick tube, and radiator for escaping air. Depending on where the air is escaping (radiator = head gasket/cracked head, throttle body = intake valves etc.), you found your issue.

You've already been told what you need to do in your old thread. You've now been told, again, in this thread. You've never needed to do valve lash? Wat? No one has "flamed" you. You're doing halfassed work, and we're calling you out on it. You've been around here long enough to know how things work. I also thought you were better than doing halfassed work. Step your game up, man. Do it right.
