new car
well as my mom is demanding i get a new car and shell help me out im thinking about it and it seems like a very good idea. right now i got a slightly modded 94 civic dx 5 speed and a 92 integra rs with i.h.e. and other minor things. im hopping to get 2500 for the civic and 2000 for the integra.
That gives me about 8500 to spend on a car plus my mom will pay like 8 g's. im trying to decide on what car stock and new to get. im thinking of a 2001 prelude.
what info can u guys give me about it like what generation it is whats its competators, hp if its hydro or cable tranny. what would u guys get if u have that money to spend?

Re: new car (keep_up)
lemme guess... You have about $8500 to spend and your mom will give you about $8000? For a grand total of $12?

Then again, you're 17 so I would recommend something slow. Look into getting a new Civic or something. Seriously. You'll understand when you get older. Semi-quick cars are dangerous for 16 and 17 year olds.

lol an RSX-S isnt much quicker than a gsr. quicker, but not putting buslengths or even close. my gsr was my first car when i was 17. its not near fast enough that a kid cant handle it. my friend had a ~250whp SR20DET swapped 240sx at the same age and he was just fine.
but that might not be the case for everyone but id definitely be against a noob driver to be driving something worth anymore than 7-8k. a new driver is going to do something wrong with that car. period.

I would look for an RSX-S, Integra GS-R, or Integra Type-R. All 3 of them are good looking cars, reliable, and fun. I wouldn't buy the R if I didn't have another car to use as a daily driver. RSX-S is probably what you'l find with low mileage and less abuse then the GS-R.

A properly sized bolt on package, larger throttle body, and rsx-r cams can yield 230 - 240 whp.
That's what's great about the k-series. They respond magnificently to bolt ons and small modifications. The added torque from a larger engine doesn't hurt either.

yes i do know the performance potential of the K series but im talking stock for stock. a 16-17 year old kid most likely cant afford those mods.

If you have a garage, a second car, a safe neighborhood, and willing to make a commitment to owning such a car, go for the R. Remember, it is still the number.1 stolen car around. I still say RSX-S. or any 98-01 LS/RS/GS/R integra stock with low miles.
