Neutral Safety Switch trouble
This morning my girl went out to her '96 Integra LS automatic and it wouldn't shift into any gear. So I used her key in the safety switch to put the tranny in neutral.. then started the car and put it into drive. What would cause this?? In the owner's manual it says that if it happens it could be due to some sort of mechanical problem and it should be taken to the dealer. Any suggestions???

There's a switch on the brake pedal. (Maybe it uses the brake-light switch - I'm not sure?) Maybe the shift-interlock circuit isn't seeing that switch properly - loose wiring? Or if the switch itself is bad, the brake lights won't be working...

just to give an update. she came home and it goes into gear fine now (figures). I guess it is just a loose wire somewhere, since she said her brake lights weren't working etheir.
