Need some assistance
I have a couple of questions that hopefully someone can help me with. I tried to order a bearing set for my block but they said i need to look on the rod or something and get a letter and number so they can reference their chart and get the right color. Does anyone know this for a 95 GSR? Also i got a type r throttle cable for my new manifold, but does anyone know the part number for the throttle bracket? thanks
one final question. Im boring the block .020 over or to 81.5 mm so when i get a headgasket do i need to get one that is 81.5mm or can i just get the factory one from acura?

Re: Need some assistance (GSR95T)
ok i found the part # to the itr throttle bracket. I ordered an str throttle body so do i still need to get a different throttle pulley or will one come with it? thanks

You need to measure the rod and match the bearing to the wear or size of the rod. This is because all new rods and olsd rogs arn't exactly perfect so you hve to take a micrometer and measure the wear and size. I am pretty sure that is the answer later.

There should be paint on the bearings themselves. I know that the crankshaft bearings have small paint marks on them and thats what bearing you order from honda. I'm not sure about the rod bearings because mine weren't out of spec and I didn't have to order them. I believe they are the same way and there also should be a number stamped on them but I don't have my helms on me right now so I'm not sure.

Re: (spids5)
Well then I guess I'll just answer the last question because all the other ones have been answered(sorta). A stock head gasket is larger than 81mm. So with that being said you can go 81.5 and still be fine. If you are at 84mm then thats a different story.

Re: Need some assistance (GSR95T)
You match the numbers on the crankshaft with the letters on the block to get the main bearing colors from the chart found in the Helm service manual (pink is the thinnest bearing and blue is the thickest on the chart).
You match the letters on the crank with the numbers on the rod to get the rod bearing colors from the chart. Pink is the thinnest and blue is the thickest.
You cannot rely solely on the color chart to determine final bearing choice. You should measure the bearing clearances with plastigage and/or by mic'ing them.
If you're ever in my neck of the woods, I can show you how to do all that jive stuff and help you mic whatever needs to be mic'd. You'd just better pack a lunch b/c it takes a couple of hours.
