i would also get the altenator checked, by turning the engine on and removing the red post from the battery if it turns off thats your problem.
i need some help on a swap for my 99 civic, idk what to go for a ls motor or b20b?

Hmm that means the check engine light is burnt out or someone took the bulb out. I would take a look at your ECU and see if you get any codes from it.

if you turn the key to the ii position to where the dash lights up and move the passenger side carpet out of the way you will see a window on the ECU, if there is a light blinking that means you have a code.
long beeps count for 10
short beeps count for 1
will pause for a new code
long beep, short beep, short beep = 12
Pause
Long beep, long beep= 20
pause
long beep, short beep, short beep=12
so that means you would have code 12 and 20.

Re: My b20b turns off while I'm driving it...
Im letting you know this rite now ... i had the same problem in my GF 99 civic hatch back ... the car will drive fine then while in traffic it will cut off leaving me lookin crazy in traffic ( embarrasing ) it takes about 30 min b4 the car would start again ... it hapopened to her about 3 times while driving and it happened to me about 3 times as well .... i thought to myself, is it the spark plugs/wires, the altanator, then i started thinking stupid maybe it needs an oil change, cause she had no or lil to no oil in her motor ... long story short i brought the car to advance auto parts and got a NEW " main relay " and the car never shut off since, and its been 2 weeks now!!! so switch that relay and you should be fine

I would try what someone else stated, get a known good distributor and try it on your car to see if it's something to do with the dizzy.

Check out why the hell your ECU light is not lit, check that before you blow all your money throwing parts at it. I don't know why you didn't say this or haven't checked this yet. Your ecu will 99% likely tell you EXACTLY whats wrong with it. Fix that **** and you'll be good to go with what's going on.

first off, yes, you really should get your obd system sorted out.
but let's say for instance you weren't throwing any codes. what you want to do with problems like this, which symptoms could be due to just about any problem under the hood, is narrow down the possibilities. start from the top.
you're either not getting fuel or spark at the time this occurs.
install a fuel pressure gauge. then, when the problem is occurring, run out and check the pressure. if you have adequate pressure, it's likely an ignition related problem. this way you'll have direction at least and can further pin point the problem through testing, instead of firing parts at it until it does or doesn't get fixed

i'd say take out the distributor, inspect it and clean it.
from what i've read so far you got
fuel pressure
compression
but no spark
so i'd suggest you remove the distributor and see how everything looks in there.

blinked 1 long one
and 5 short ones
do you have any clue what that means?

Re: My b20b turns off while I'm driving it...
I would love to know this too. I have the same CEL 15 which is ignition output signal. I blew $500 less them 4 days and it still crapped on me. Now my car wouldn't start anymore.
Things I have replaced:
- New ECU
- new dizzy
- new main relay
- new ignition switch
- new egr valve
- new injectors
- cleaned egr ports
I have read many many forums on how to fixed a code 15, but no one has ever, I mean ever fixed this problem.
And mine is a 93 prelude si with a jdm h22a.

Just my luck haha, While removing my ignition starter switch, I ran into my alarm system, so I am gonna have to uninstall my alarm before I can replace or even remove the ignition starter switch

Re: My b20b turns off while I'm driving it...
I read somewhere that this problem happens and can be fixed by replacing the ignition control module, does this sound about right??
I will re explain my problem and you tell me..
I turn the car on, it runs for about 10-15 minutes then dies, wont start back up for a little while, does the ignition control module, have anything to do with this?
