Default Is my B17 DA worth selling?

Here's the quick story: I picked up this DA RS, equipped with a B17 engine and transmission, off a friend to be my new daily driver in the place of my turbo EG hatch while my Type-R is down. However, my Type-R will be running again shortly and I could possibly use the money elsewhere. The only drawback is I love the car and it's in near perfect mechanical condition.

The car was originally going to be a project car for a friend. He is SUPER meticulous about his rides and does everything the right way the first time. He's the type of that when you get into one of his cars you feel inclined to kick your shoes off before putting them on the floor if you know what I mean. Anyway his new wife got to him and he's giving up on having a new project right now since he already has a couple other vehicles and she wants some new furniture.

Within the past 1,000 miles the car has recieved the following:

1. New timing belt and water pump.
2. New OEM headgasket and injector seals
3. New oilpan, oil pan gasket, drain plug and oil pickup.
4. New clutch.
5. New radiator, coolant hoses and radiator fan.
6. New battery.
7. New distributor cap, rotor button and plug wires.
8. Billet cam seal cap.
9. Re-coated valve cover.
10. Poly engine mounts inserts.

The engine is stock except for an injen intake and DC header mated to the stock exhaust. It's nice and quite while cruising around town but sounds awesome when you get into it and hit VTEC, just the way a good daily driver should be.

The engine runs FLAWLESSLY and pulls hard. It's faster than a friends 2003 VW GTI 1.8t from 0-115mph.

The interior is in excellent shape as well and is fitted with an entire DA GSR dash to complement the B17 engine and transmission.

Exterior is nothing impressive. It's a normal looking RS with normal wear and tear.

Here are some pics. Please note that the car WAS NOT cleaned for these pics. This is the condition of the interior and the engine as it is maintained on a daily basis. IMO it speaks for itself in regards to how well cared for the car is.

Do you guys think this car could bring $4,500 or more if advertised to the right market?

If it where me I wouldn't. Whatever you do make sure it doesn't go to the wrong person, I hate it when a ricer messes up a DA. Unfortunatley from what I've seen so far this summer I doubt you could get 4500 for it, at least where I am at which is virginia. I definitaly think it's worth 4500, but once again I think you should keep it.

if you think you and everyone else thinks you could get $4500 for yours, then my $6500 asking price is perfect (the car is completely done: susp. brakes, I/H/E, etc..)

but ya. its a clean car..

why do you want to sell it?

I've got a 2001 Type-R that should be on the road again soon and I'm looking to try and purchase a home within the next few months. I'm the type that always likes to have a second car but I figure the money could be spent better elsewhere at least in the upcoming months. Once I get a house I'd get another car for sure and then I'm sure I'll kick myself for selling the DA....if I decide to that is.

I'd say it would be worth $4,000 max imo. Only because it's an RS, if it was an original GSR it would be worth 4,500 easily. Also, how many miles are on the car?

IMO, don't sell the car...like you said it was maintained well...and really, how often are you going to find a DA integra w/ the B17 motor, but that would be in my area...rare here in the bay

just keep it

I know a lot of people are gonna burn me for this but, have you considered selling the Type R, dumping a few G's into the DA and using all the extra money on your house?

I mean, I know you're thinking "EFF that! Type R is great!" I won't deny that, but you obviously have an attachment to this car and I don't blame you... It's cared for immaculately and honestly the engine bay is VERY clean. The thing is, think about how much you'd love that car if you did a little more work to the exterior/suspension and did some mild daily driven motor work? Wouldn't it be sweet, something different?

The way I look at it- You'd have a car you love, a lot less stress from buying a house and in the end, the theft rate on the R won't be a worry for you. A DA that looks stock is a much safer car to leave parked than an R, so honestly daily driven I'd say the DA holds its weight.

Honestly looking at that car, I love the way it looks on the interior and engine bay. It looks REALLY clean.

In a perfect world that was run by pure logic selling the Type-R and keeping the DA would be the best decision by far so don't feel stupid for bringing it up.

That being said the DA doesn't hold a candle to the Type-R when it comes to sentimental value. I drove my Type-R off the showroom floor and within the first 3 years of ownership accumulated 92,000mi. That includes over 250 quarter mile passes, 5-6 autocross events and a whole lot of good memories of being a stupid teenager and living to tell about it. It's currently being "restored" so to speak for all of those years of fun and abuse.

Bottom line: I'm never selling the Type-R.
