sohc vtec swap out of our shop would be $1000. $500 for labor $500 for an engine. we have never had any stories like that. our main tech has 25 years as an auto tech 15 years with honda's alone. doing a 91 integra right now just engine replacement bill is $1100 with new timing belt and valve adjustment.

oright oright
i got another lab RATING
  • my car came back with a dent, i wasnt tripping tho cuz it was a f'd up fender already.planed to replace with side marker fenders.
  • they do ignore calls at times, not always but yes it happened
  • i asked how long will it take, they quoted 3 days. really took 2.5 weeks
i live about 1 hr away so i was able to check on the work which i dont think they thought i would do. ok so ii talk to chris one day during the build and he said it was on the lift there taking out the sohc it will be done tomorrow. so im like ok/ tomorrow comes i call he said oh um um something happen (idk iforgot all the days and conversation its been like 3 months now) so hes like it will be done tomorrow, im like ok,,, i didnt think much of it ***** looks like he smokes bud is what i thought, hes taking his time. so i tell my girl that we should go check on it.. so i go up there and i tell the skinny guy that answers the phonehey ima go check on the car oright. there like ok . so i get there and the car is no where to be sEEN. im like asking this asian where is the white ex, .. i talk to him alitle more and find out hes the mechanic.. and he tells me the truth like oh its in the garage right there... im like ok its just chilling, you havent started? he;s like naw i was doing this EH.. im like ohh ok where my motor. he shows it to me . im like ok, boo! (i put B inplace of c , lol its a compton blood thing) so im talking to shis guy that is beeing straight up with me. i guess he doesnt lie like the others.. or just couldnt lie cuz i was there.. well he ends up telling me its going to take about 2 more days..part that made me alittle happy was that as i was leaving they took the hatch for a test run and all was good except for the rusted out oem exhaust, it was making that ugly rattle,, so then day one passes im sapose to be getting these update calls which never come.. man guy im leaving out alot of detail.i remember more as i go ... but basically i got my car runs good. i put 2k miles on it already
they have really bad customer service... its proabbly cuz there young : beer::be er:lol i guess dont get a singal cam from them cuz they wont do it right. i seen like 2 stories where the singal cam came out all ****ed up.. vtec not connected ./ well i have only seen about 5 bad stories. oh yea and my damn block has no vin, stolen?? idk. ima sell my block

there was some guy that got a h22.. he said it came out cool. except they lied about the year on the tranny.

my engine is still running good.. just one thing had to be done which was new motor mounts, i just got inserts, which were alot cheaper, 20$ for two different sets.

wow man, this is not looking good for lab junkies, I live in riverside so San Bernardino is close to me I was also considering going to them for a future B20 swap into my integra. Their prices seem fairly good on their website but again something about their website seems sketchy too lol... Id like to hear someone from LAB junkies themselves or a representative come on here and maybe do some clarification, because there is always to sides to every story, but the negatives are outweighing the positives...

so this may be a retard question but are they still in business? I am not from around there so I cant check. I call and email them but no answer.(seems to be common). they (chris and robert) owned my xsi in the past and 1) did/got a real shitty paintjob 2) fixed it up,and I was wondering what all that entailed. so my main question is what is the most efficient way to contact them? thanks

I'm a frequent customer with the lab which I will NEVER do business with again I known these guys for years so I speak with experience with these guys and the story of someone on here similar with a motor swap with the run around is true.

I took my car to the lab Friday last week to get a simple d15b motor swap put in and I was quoted 750 cause I was the homie. I never asked them to hook it up for cheap because I did have the funds for it CHRIS quoted me on the cost. Anywho I had bought a brand new battery, a vtex wiring harness and I also bought a tranny so all he had to do was provide everything else and it be easier. He told me it would be done by Sunday which I was like chris. I know you. Take your time hit me up let me know what's up. His employee was kind enough to drop me off and take me to the metrolink since I was carless.

As I waited to hear news I frequently called and seen how things were going the next day he told me the motor was going to a machine shop cause it got a brand new head and it'll be put on Saturday and done by Sunday. This was after I had to call about 20 times because there phone doesent work correctly not only that they have caller id. So they didn't pick up till their closing time. I told chris just to make sure everything ewas right due to the fact I have 2 kids and I was trying to put my car back to stock and have SOMETHING SAFE and reliable to put them in.

Sunday rolled around again I call and call and I get no reply. I had to call one of his boys to see what was going on. From there he gave me chris's cell phone number. I called using a different number after trying mine 2hrs later and he picked up. Suprised hearing my voice you should say. I asked him what was going on with the car and he was stuttering telling me "uh uh the car is idling wrong and I think its the dizzy" so I told him I would go out of pocket and buy a new one. He refused and told me he got it and that hell plug it in tomorrow and let me know what's up. He was more worried if I had the money then the condition of the car itself after the conversation.

Monday rolls around I here no word. I wake up at 445am to take 2 busses and a train to be at work at 7am I waited till 2pm to see if I get word then I call. After the 29th phone call I get a text message stating my car will be ready tomorrow because the shop installer wasn't in and there was more technical issues. He asked me if my brakes were low and I said no they were not and he then told me ohh well the pedal is down to the floor and its not stoping correctly. At this point I knew something was up and I asked when it'll be finished and he told me Tuesday. So

Tuesday rolls around I head there around 8pm which was the time he told me to be there which I thought was strange for a shop since I was available all day. I called my girlfriend to pick me up and take me there with the kids. I pull up and he shows up but with a cop car in back of him due to speeding down the st. After he was threw with the cops I go check out my vehicle. Here's the fun part.

I lift up my motor to see this funky *** lime green painted motor and I was thinking **** was wrong forsure I inspect everything even the outside of the car and someone hit my driverside fender it has a softball size dent right by the corner light and I said who the **** did that and he said it had to been like that already cause it was in the garage the whole time. I go to check my battery and notice I also had a new battery that wasn't my on there. It was a kirkland battery that was old and had no charge. he then try to say it had no battery when I showed up when I know damn well I had a new battery because before I took my car down there I went to autozone to buy a new battery for the car and I have my receipt as well. Turns out my battery was jacked. By smeone who also got dirty work sone to them and thought it was one of their shop cars.. yeah it didn't sound right either if that's what your thinking. If my car has been in the shop the whole time how did someone manage to steal a battery from my car? He started getting on his phone calling up people trying to see who did it before and even brought some guy over who I guess was supposed to be his I didn't see a battery in their either lullaby but after I told him I had the receipt which was still in the car his friend then changed up his story saying ohh I don't remember the battery just theinstalling the pos motor in the car.

So I start the vehicle and notcie a god awful noise and it was shooting blue smoke like no tomorrow from there I was pissed I notice my lines weren't even ran correctly and it cause my car to idle like ****. From there I said to chris man how can you do this to me? Your boy I send you customers and you pulled this same **** and you know I need a car and you know I needed something safe for my kids. He then tried to say that it wasn't his fault due to the fact it was the mechanic and the others working under it. But its funny you told me you were putting it all together when I called you several times. He didn't have a response buthe said it wasn't his fault. I guess he thought I was goingAnother thing I noticed when I got in the car to test drive it was the cars shifter was cut in half and I said "chris you got to be kidding me man how the **** am I supposed to drive when this **** is broken?" He then said oh what it is as if he didn't know. He then looked inside and said that's weird I put a mugen shift **** on there earlier. Beyond heated I started up the car once again cause it died. First off the car had no intake so I was **** from the start I couldn't even get the car a block away before it died and the rotors were rubbing against the brake and almost cause me to crash as we pulled it backn in the garage.

The lines of my vtec wires were spiced and done so incorrectly. He had my car on a p05 automatic ecu when its a manual. After 2 hrs of inspecting seeing **** was missing and not done corrrectly I then told him I wasn't paying for any of this and I got my money back. My gf was pissed my kids were in the car for 2hrs as well and my so called friend screwed me over and he thought it was funny especially since he was chuckling as he saw me drive off test driving it. Luckly my gf told me this after we left cause I had some super aggression to let out. But I try not to result to violence. Anyway my car is ****ed now and after all this I will no longer be going to his shop nor recommending any services done by him. I will be reporting to the bbb and I will be not giving you your **** back you call a motor that I checked earlier today and saw the valves are bent and that smoke is also shooting out oil. Pictures will be posted of this shitty install.
i know this is a old post but why the hell do ppl like you know so much but when it comes down to doing work on your own car you go to shops

post after post after post after post. if 20 out of 50 past customer have been robbed or screwed the city the shop has grown 5+years in it would be shut down from none or bad business.
If a grocery store kept selling bad food and bad customer so so often as people state their having it would be out of business. People have been posting on here along with many other shops with mishaps of just FALSE STATEMENTS or BIG TWIST TO THE STORIES. Like ive said before and say again. Dont go off another mans "crying statement" go down there dont spend 1 dollar you make you own judgement. As far as I have seen they do good work, if they didnt they wouldnt be there period.
