jerks/shakes when let off
do any of you have the same problem and do you know if there is a fix for it?
i have a 95 RS and when i accelerate in lower gears (higher do it too but not as much) and let off the gas there seems to be a jerk. it happents when the car reaches the acceleration/deceleration point on both accelerating and letting off.
my buddy has a 94 RS and has the same problem. let me know if this sounds familiar or i'm just bugging.

it's prob the motor/tranny mounts. mine does the same thing, you can see the motor move back and forth. i am installing poly bushing inserts to solve this problem. i hope that helps.

we just did it on my brothers 94 ex, it helped a lot, he had a very similar problem. one way you can see if this is it, pop your hood, have someone rev your car up, and watch for excessive engine movement. if you see it move a bit, it's more then likely that problem, keep in mind it's 4 times as bad when your moving (i.e. the tranny torques a hell of a lot more under power).

does this happen only in manual cars? I have a 98 RS and it jerks around too, when I'm on the gas and left it off suddenly in 1st or 2nd gear. I don't think its my driving since all I do is lift off the gas, I just push on the clutch pedal to avoid it. I figured it was just a characteristic of a manual tranny?

Re: jerks/shakes when let off (Pat)
i think it is more common in manuals because of the release of resistance (when you put the clutch in under load) that the tranny and motor see as you change gears. you can minimize this by rev matching better on the upshift as well as the down shift. but after a while most cars i think may suffer at least a little bit from this.
as far as i see it's normal wear and tear. i am solving it with poly bushings, but see what other people have tried/think.
hope that helps
