Issues Unlocking Doors on an LS
Hey guys, so I recently got a new Integra this summer bone stock. Previously I had an '94 RS, now I got a '97 LS. The power locks are a nice feature. But it seems like every time I lock my doors, when I try and unlock them to get back in, they don't work. I sit there trying over and over, going back and forth from lock to unlock but it doesn't work. Eventually, it gets to the point where I'm convinced I'll have to crawl in through the hatch. But suddenly it will finally unlock. I'm not sure why it's doing this, but it's sketching me out. I've been just locking my touch screen stereo deck in the glove compartment and leaving the car unlocked... And as I put more money into the car I need to be able to lock it as everyone knows how often Integras get stolen. Anybody got some insight or previous experience with this issue?

Just a guess but if it's happening to both doors, and this is an alarm remote we're talking about, maybe the unlock button is defective. They sell button refresh kits for the Viper I know. Or just get a new remote, you can usually find a reprogram video on YouTube or just Google it if you go new.

No, it's not a keyless entry. The car didn't come with an alarm system or anything. Literally I put the key in the slot and it locks both sides fine, but once I try and unlock it the same way it acts stubborn.

Sitting there going back and forth and may have to climb in the hatch? Does the unlock work with the door open using the main control switch on the driver’s door? Same when it's closed and your're inside operating it? Does the inside switch work on the passenger door? If so does the key turn the outside lock to the open position or does it seem jammed; on both doors? Is it the same situation with the key with the doors open? What I’m getting to is it can be a lock problem, an actuator, wiring harness or jammed actuation linkage depending on some of those symptoms. Be prepared to remove the door panel.

The door will not lock when the door is open but when it's closed the lock will work fine from the inside. The inside switch on the passenger door works also, in the same way, only if the door is closed will it lock. It will unlock with the door open but not lock. I'm not sure as to what you mean by does it seem jammed... The key will turn both ways, it doesn't prevent me from locking or anything. But taking a door panel off is no problem I've done it several times and it's not difficult.

Most importantly, it will unlock with the door closed from the inside using the main switch correct and the door lock turns all the way to the unlock position. It sounds like something is worn inside at the lock area. Either the lock is faulty or whatever is slipping instead of catching the actuator linkage like a clip or other 20th century plastic crap, which you should be able to see with the panel off while turning the lock from outside. I always pull out the SM or look at the PDF file when I’m looking at that stuff for company too, which I’m sure you have? But it sounds like it’s working properly except for the lock area. I haven't had my GSR for a while sorry I can’t be more help.

If you want to LOCK your doors with the door open, simply pull the interior door handle open while simultaneously pressing the lock switch down. This works on the passenger or driver side door.
To UNLOCK both doors from the drivers side key hole, turn and hold the key to the right. After a couple seconds you'll hear the doors and hatch unlock.

Okay, so if I pulled the door panel off, what exactly am I looking for? Also, what is a "SM" and "PDF"?
I didn't know you could lock the doors from the interior like that, lol I figured it prevented you from doing so for a safety precaution so you didn't lock yourself out of the car on accident. And that's sweet you can unlock the hatch by the door lock like that. I never knew that.

With the panel removed, look where the lock cylinder is and observe what it does when you turn the key from the door handle.
