integra reliability vs prelude
hello everyone i have a general integra question.
i just sold my 1997 prelude (loved it except i was burning like a quart of oil every 200 miles). i am now looking to get a 1995-2001 integra ls, gs, or gsr, i have heard that preludes have oil burning issues, would you guys say that integras are better in this regard? im a little concerned beacause im probably going to end up getting an integra with like 110,000-to 160,000 miles and i dont want to run into that oil problem again.
thanks for any help or opinions

its a hit or miss, buy a car from someone who drives it gingerly..
you really wont be able to tell if it burns oil or not until you own it for a week or two, unleess you do a leakdown test, so inspect it carefully. One way to tell is to see if the exhaust tips have any oily residue...For honda, if the exhaust tip is rather clean(very little carbon), it probably means it was driven gently....

I think its all about the people who take care of the car, skimp out of regular maintenance and car will be less reliable, but if your on top of it it will be, but when getting the car from someone else, that you dont know, it like stated above a hit or miss. When you do get it, just take care of it, you dont have to baby it so much, but routine and regular maintenance would be good for the motor.

Re: integra reliability vs prelude
yeah it all depends on how the car was maintained. i have a prelude and the previous owners took awsome care of it. 167k miles on it and doesnt burn much oil at all. only thing wrong was an automatic tranny that broke almost two months ago lol

I hear the H-series has issues with timing tensioner, when modified, but other than that I wouldn't know. I will swear by the B-series for quality, not power. No personal experince with H. I'm sure there is a way around any problems as such, since the H will make better power with a good quality build and tune.

thanks for the help everyone. i guess its all how the car was taken care of, i guess my prelude must have been beat on before i got it. seriously l mean a quart for every 400 miles or so sucks (and i had roughly 145,000 on the car). i am probably leaning toward the integra gsr though just have heard better things about that series of engines in the integra (b) vs. the h22
