Is an integra ls supposed to be faster than a civic si

Re: Is an integra ls supposed to be faster than a civic si (99GSR1980)
The GSR's peak tq # is more than an LS,its just the LS has better low end tq.The GSR and SI were setup to have all high end power.When there both tackin out the GSR an SI are gonna pull because of there high end power.

Re: Is an integra ls supposed to be faster than a civic si (maggsgsr)
When i had just I/H/E on my LS i beat a kid i know with a 99 civic si with the same mods in the quarter mile... i think the LS is faster then the civic si. The LS has more tq then the SI but you also have to consider the Horsepower to Weight Ratio.... the integra is definetly lighter then the SI

Lets be honest,the SI is the lighter of the 2 and has shorter gearing,and more HP.You probobly raced someone who wasn't that well of a driver.The SI has been known to push around 150 WHP w I/H/E so with equal drivers I would put my money on the SI.

[*]Weight -
00' Civic SI - 2601 lbs
00' Integra LS - 2643 lbs[*]Horsepower -
00' Civic Si - 160@7600rpm
00' Integra LS - 140@6300rpm [*]Torque -
00' Civic SI - 111@7000rpm
00' Integra LS - 124@5200rpm
Those are the reason's why the integra and civic Si are so close in a race..
if you put my car's stats to it it would be even a closer race cause my car is about 100lbs lighter.

There close no doubt,but the SI is faster.The guy wants to know.And the only other thing that was left out of these stats are the gearing of the 2.
SI=ITR gear ratios
Matter a fact I would love to have an SI tranny in my GSR.

Re: Is an integra ls supposed to be faster than a civic si (maggsgsr)
Yeah i couldn't find the gears but i did find the Compression Ratio...
Si 10.2
LS 9.2
Si has higher compression higher everything but torque....
IMO:would be a close race with the Si most likely in front..
Edit'd it happy??

Re: Is an integra ls supposed to be faster than a civic si (maggsgsr)
i ran my friends 99 Si's, with basic on my Ls and same goes to the Si's, i beat them off the launch all the way to fourth gear about two car length, not just once, but all the time that we race. I love my Ls torque, espesically with the ACT 6puck clutch!!

forgive me if i'm wrong, but compression has NOTHING to do with how fast you are or your ability to win races. the SI doesn't win the race because of higher compression, it wins because of higher HP, better gearing, and slighly less weight.
by your theory (and this is a hypothetical)....say the LS came with 11:1 compression, but still had 142hp/127tq....you're saying it would win. i don't think so.

lol, never said that the Si would win just cause of the compression... was just adding it to the rest of what i posted... then just added that i think it would be a close race with the Si in front........

I don't disagree, I just think all this talk of what who ran when means absolutly nothing since there IS no real average. Its all the driver, conditions (weather and track), car's shapes.
In all the SI has better numbers but lacking a little in torque, while the LS has a little more torque but lacking in the rest. I think this thread should be locked already since its going no where anyway.

Re: Is an integra ls supposed to be faster than a civic si (xteg01)
First of all the driver is everything. If your stock LS beat a stock SI or whatever, more than likely you're a better driver than the SI owner, or he was having a bad day.
Second, I personally think OBDI and OBDII plays a role as well. We all know that the 94-95 has 142 HP and 127 ft-lbs. of torque and the 97-up has 140HP and 124 ft-lbs. of torque.
But of course we all know that some people get blessed with "freak" motors.

it's just funny to me how us honda owners think a B20 has TONS of torque.....
now when i drive my g/f's '03 jetta gli (vr6 w/ 6 speed)...that's got torque

hahah to bad you will never get youre car smogged.
and second of all tourqe is more important hence this
Warning: Once you see this, you will never look at horsepower and torque readings the same again, especially after you think about it.
P= (TR)/5252
P= power, in horsepower
T= torque, measured in lb/ft
R= Engine speed, in RPMs
Therefore:
Horsepower= (torque x RPMs) / 5252
Try it- pull out a dyno and see what you get

to simplify this mess....what he is saying is that horsepower is derived from torque. more torque theoretically can mean more HP.

torque and hp don't mean jack **** the way most people on this thread are describing them (in terms of peak figures).
Useable powerband is the number one most important factor in an engine.
