As far as I know, as long as the ECU has a 0-5V input voltage range from the IAT, it won't throw a code. I don't think it cross-checks against anything to determine out-of-boundary operating conditions....but I wouldn't know anything about that.

we just pulled a fried IAT from my friends motor. apparently the head he got had all sorts of screwed up sensors. but we figured out that the IAT was screwin up the idle and causing it to idle really rich. the sensor was just not working. it was telling the ecu that the temp in the IM was cold so it screws with the calibration of everything. he had been having problems for a while, we thought it was the oxygen sensor or something else, but when we pulled the IAT and saw how fried it was we switched it out and the car ran fine.
