Default I hydro my GSR which route should I take?

to make a long story short I hydro my car... the car only turns but it feels like it's about to die at any given moment. Basically what happend was... It was a dark rainy night and I couldn't see anything by the time I saw the puddle of water it was too late to avoid making contact with the water and thus.. water went up my CIA and my car wouldn't start after that.

So what should I do? should I rebuild the bottom end? or should I just go with a new block? I would want to go for a budget rebuild nothing too fancy but nothing too expensive.. I have access to tools and resources just wondering what you guys would do in my position?

Btw, it's a 95 GSR 2D Coupe with OBD1.

In my opinion I would just buy a longblock. Maybe you can salvage up some parts to use from your GSR, but I wouldn't rebuild it. Just my .02 What you guys think?

man, you crazy kids and your cai's. for ***** sake if you see some water let off the gas and put the clutch in. worst case scenario is tha you end up stopping in the middle and having to push your car out, wet pants beats a busted motor anyday. now, with that said, just get an itr longblock and call it a day.

i did this to my second DA. change the oil and the tranny fluid. you could just have a little water in there that wont let it start. take out the plugs and let everything dry out .. you may have not fucked it up as bad as you think. But if you did.. your screwed.. just rebuild it.

Did you try pulling the plugs and turning it over to shoot the water out? Then reinstalling the plugs and see if she runs without any knocks?

I hydrolocked my enging about 6 months ago and bent a rod. I was sooooooo poor at the time that I had no choice but to fix it myself. I had it towed to my house and started on a Wednesday night. I pulled the oil pan, pickup, and tray, and looked up at the rods. Sure as **** the #1 rod was bent as hell.

Early Thursday morning I went to my local Honda with my Acura part number and ordered a rod overnight shipped ($130). Went back home and pulled the head, then the one piston and rod. Mind you, I had no internal engine experience, in fact, I had never pulled a head before. The rod came in Friday, so I took it and my old rod and piston to the machine shop and had it swapped on ($16). They couldn't get to it untill late Friday so I picked it up and waited till Saturday to reinstall everything.

Remember I said I was poor right? Well, I reused my old rod bearing, head gasket, piston rings, and oil pan gasket. I had it running by 3pm Saturday and besides not having the cam timing perfect, all was well. Runs great!!

Here I am 25K miles later and no problems, runs great. Oh, btw, my 92 RS has over 275K miles on her. Good luck to you.

Take the engine a part and see if the block is still ok .... look for cracked sleeves and damage underneath the engine . If everything seems fine just rebuild the block with aftermarket parts. If the engine is in a bad sshape than go find a short block and change over the head to the block. I think thats the cheapest way to go. But if money is not a concern than buy a new long block and rebuild that.
