yes it's fine, it's not like your gonna get any performance gains tho. stick to 87, it's cheaper
i use mobil 1 5x-30, every 3k. i think 6k is really pushing it

Re: how often do you change your oil? (LSintegra)
Asking how often to change your oil is like asking people's religion. Everyone's got an opinion, and they're all different. And I've heard just as many different opinions from different mechanics as I have from drivers/owners.
Here are some facts to consider:
The oft-quoted mechanics' recommendation of "3000 miles or 3 months" has been around for over 50 years, and came from the days of poorer-quality oils and engines. That doesn't mean it's wrong, but that's a fact that you may or may not want to take into consideration.
The owner's manual and service manual contain Honda's recommendations for scheduled maintenance intervals, including oil changes. The manuals for my '94 Integra say it should be changed every 7500 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first. The manuals for my '01 Integra say every 7500 miles or 12 months.
Synthetic oil is more resistant to degradation at high temperatures than conventional oil (and it flows better at cold temperatures). However, it will accumulate particulate matter (dirt) and impurities at the same rate as conventional oil.
When synthetic oil first hit the market a few decades ago, its manufacturers claimed that it could be changed less frequently than conventional oil and less frequently than the car manufacturer's recommendations. For the most part, they no longer make such claims.
So those are the facts. Now, what you decide to do with them is up to you. It's your car, and your money.
(My personal opinion is that using synthetic oil is a good idea, and changing it at least as often as Honda's recommendations is essential, but sufficient. It is also my opinion that changing it any more frequently than recommended is not necessary, unless you drive your car in track events, although changing it more frequently won't harm anything other than your finances. Obviously some others here do not agree, and they are entitled to their opinions too.)

Why should it worry you?? Don't fall into the 3K mile OCI. It was started by oil companies and oil change places to increase sales.
I change my oil every 5-7K miles and I'm running dino oil and am not worried one bit. I had an oil analysis done by Blackstone Labs on my oil at this OCI and the results showed the oil was fine and it hadn't sheared down.
If you're changing your oil at 3K mile OCI's you're wasting your money.

Re: (timmy8151)
Reason for it worrying me is because when I change it around those intervals the oil is pretty dark and dirty looking. I just don't like knowing that all that crap is circulating in my motor so I usually follow the 3k mile change interval or somewhere near it. I've always done since owning my first car @ 15 (89 Prelude) and i'm use to it so I just go by that.

I change @ 7,500 miles, like Honda recommends. Though, I did change over to use synthetic, since I don't trust conventional oil that long. Mobile 1, thinking about going to Royal Purple.

no. waste of money.
i've been running conventional on my integra since i bought the car with 52k miles. it now has 172k or so. i change the oil every 4-5k, and several times i've gone longer. in other words, i have about 120k worth of oil changes that tell me changing my oil any sooner is a complete waste of money.
also, my fiancee runs synthetic in her '03 MB. her oil change interval? 10k. i admit even that seems a bit high for me. when we take over the service after the warranty is up, that car will likely see oil changes at most every 7.5k, but that's what MB themselves recommend.
so, stop wasting your money, and draining the supplies, by changing your oil too often.

Exactly, chaging your oil because it "looks" dirty is insane. The only way to tell if an oil isn't good is to have an oil analysis done.

Same here, I change my oil out at about 5,000 miles give or take a few hundred miles. I use Syntech by Castro Oil and S2000 oil filters...
