How many times do you hit vtec and take your GSR to redline
As the topic stats. How many times do you hit vtec and take your GSR to redline during the day, week or month?
And any word on some professional advice on how often you should......
Definately have to wait until the car warms up, check the oil often and run 93 octane

vtec is a lil lower in the gsr than in my Si, i would think hitting vtec would be nothing for that motor as long as your secondary butterflies r still closed. Ill just vtec is almost a daily thing for me, redlining it however is not. i say u just drive and dont just hit redline for no apparent reason unless u need the power or are racing.

whats the big deal about "going into VTEC". The switchover to the bigger cam and shorter primaries doesnt put more stress on the engine or anything like that. Just because we have a dual stage cam profile doesnt make running it to redline really any different than on any other car. All you're doing is letting the engine breathe better, you're not increasing intake charge density like FI.

People make too big a deal out of VTEC. It's not magic, it's not complicated, but it was a good idea on hondas part. The only difference between having VTEC and having a lumpy cam on a non-vtec head is the guy with VTEC doesnt have to sacrafice smooth idle and low end.

i hit the vtec line whenever i need to such as passing semi trucks or slow cars, quick turns, merging into interstates, etc....common sense driving skills....
