Icon7 How to: Bringing a little curb appeal to your honda

Hey guys i recently been looking at my teg more and more wondering what else i could do to give her a bit of a face lift without breaking the bank. I already got the basic, ITR motor, wheels, interior, coils, ect ect so after a while i finally decided to completely do an overhaul on my valve cover since its been looking more and more like crap recently and also to do a little rear suspension work/bling/functionality to turn some heads.

First i wanted to start with my valve cover. The factory wrinkle red has definitely seen some better days so i thought a complete refreshing was in order!
I decided to redo the wrinkle red paint, purchase some nice hardware, and a new spark plug cover.

List of parts i purchased.
VHT wrinkle plus in red of course(summit racing)
Rust-Oleum Aircraft Paint Remover(summit racing
Complete valve cover gasket kit (honda)
New spark plug cover hardware. 4 nuts. (honda)
Password JDM cup washer kit for valve cover/cam cap/vtec solenoid all in gold(passwordJDM)
Carbon kevlar spark plug cover (PasswordJDM)
[IMG][/IMG]

Before

[IMG][/IMG]

Now i don't want to go crazy into the details about how to do this because im sure all of you have read plenty of threads on it, so ill just give the summarized version.

Preparation!!

-First after removing the valve cover i gave it a good wash then used the Rust-Oleum Aircraft Paint Remover to remove all the old paint.
-After all paint removed and valve cover was dry i got a sanding block and since a good final product is in the prep work i used a few different grits of sandpaper starting with 150->320->400->600->800
-After sanding i went and taped everything up that i didnt want to be painted.
[IMG][/IMG]
Time for Paint!!
A lot of people will tell you all crazy things you have to do to make the paint wrinkle, but i def did it the easy way and it came out great!
-First i got my heat gun and heated up the valve cover for about 5 minutes just moving the gun back and forth just to warm it up!
-I did three coats. First coat horizontal, second coat vertical, and finally third and final coat i did diagonally. waited about 6 minutes between each coat while using the heat gun also between coats. **Never keeping it in the same place**

Final Steps

And this is what you should get
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]

-I let it dry for about 35 hours in my garage since its hot in there with a fan pointed towards it on low at a far distance. Then i used an exacto-knife and removed all the tape! revealing this bad boy

[IMG][/IMG]

-Now if you noticed i didnt tape up the raised lettering. after drying i taped up around the lettering with painters tape and using the same 5 grits with a sanding block I sanded the rest of the paint off! then youll have something like this!

[IMG][/IMG]

Installation

-I put the valve cover back on with all the new password JDM hardware and new spark plug cover!
-Now the best part! Take a step back and look what you accomplished over the past few hours and youll still have money in your wallet for a solid meal!
still need to touch up a few things!

[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]

Next to come is the rear suspension! Enjoy guys

Now since my valve cover is done i wanted to turn my attention to my rear suspension. I already have my coils, but i wanted a little more bling down there with the stiffness and functionality of some bracing.

Parts Purchased

BuddyClub rear camber kit
Asr subframe brace
Beaks bar
Function 7 rear LCA
Spacer bolt to run asr brace and beaks
Oem LCA bolts (because your going to break them)

Odds are if you have a DC2 integra you're going to need new lower control arms away because i'm sure the bushing are shot!
Im really not going to go into the installation of this because this is more just to give some people some inspiration if they're stuck and don't know what they want to do next to their teg!

NEW PARTS INSTALL!

-First i went for the easiest part to install which was the camber kit

[IMG][/IMG]

-Now the lower control arms. I opted for function 7's because they are known for their quality and if you think of all the weight and strain that your LCA take on a daily basis you really dont want to cheap out

[IMG][/IMG]

-Now time for your asr and beaks bar. *Remember if you want to use both the asr brace and beaks brace you'll need Blackworks Subframe Brace LCA Bolt & Spacer*. I got mine here jhpusa.com. A lot of people will tell you using both are pointless, but i honestly like how they look together. plus the beaks in gold is only around 100 bucks. I also opted for the brushed aluminum asr subframe brace because it was about 50 dollars cheaper then the colored ones

[IMG][/IMG]

-Now comes the Beaks bar

[IMG][/IMG]

Now once again take a step back and look at your work!!

[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]

I'm still waiting on my swaybar.
Hope this helped some people and with a nice weekend you can knock all this out! if you have any questions please ask. This is my first thread like this so hopefully it didn't come out to bad..
Its just nice to do some small refresher work to your car to give it a little bit of new life. IMO my valve cover has been the most self rewarding thing iv done to my integra in awhile

Sorry bud, but the valve cover didnt turn out very good. How did red paint get on the plug wires?

I dont mind the wheels really.

What was the point of adding the beaks bar? You have the asr brace on there you know...

Aren't your wheels XXR's anyways? SMH

Yes, your fitment falls under the category of M E X I F L U S H. No need to deny that.

Thanks bro! its crazy nowadays if your car isn't like top quality and every part the most expensive it gets flamed. This is why the car scene well at least the honda sense sucks nowadays. used to have a wrx and you would never see hate over there. oh well.

Agreed, I ended up having to get the tein coils second hand because I spend a good amount of my budged on the 4,000 dollar 98 spec itr motor and the 1000 dollar mugen header and another few hundred on the exhaust. I wanted to get the important stuff first and worry about the rest down the road(like my stance). Like my rotas I got a banging deal and I couldn't pass it up. They're not the offset I would prefer but I pretty much bought my jdm itr recaros w/ the matching back seats and the guy threw in the wheels for free.

Are you talking about the carbon Kevlar spark plug cover? It's sort of like the same process as making carbon fiber and every piece is hand made so you're going to get a few imperfections. It's really not bad in person

Car looks good man a lot better than most of the cars on here. Plus what you did made it look a lot better than it was before it was done and for the offroad grids you actually pulled them off no retarded camber or ridiculously stretched tires. Looks good keep it up.

Who cares if they are old...your carelessness made them ugly. How hard is it to move them and do it right?

So you can honestly say this turned out good? Stop being such a sensitive dramatic. Whats ridiculous is someone does something to their car and when not everyone gives you all the praise they are looking for and start getting all butthurt, that means we are ruining the "scene" ( <---- lol) and giving ourselves a bad name?!?!? Get over yourself. Public forum. Not everyone is gonna pat you on your back for medicore work. Sorry.
Again...I dont mind the wheels, and think the outside of the car looks great.

Im just trying to understand what came out so bad about my valve cover thats all? is it because of the bit of overspray i think it came out amazing.
and when i said "old wires" i meant it as i bought new ones that i was in the process of swapping them out so i did not care at the time. and thanks for the compliments on the exterior of my car. also referring to the beaks and the asr brace i stated i know that together they serve no extra strengthening, but i do like how they look together. plus i got a really good deal on the beaks bar from my buddy. it was more or less just laying around.
took this photo just for you with the new wires and all touched up.

Nice job bro, not all of us can afford the professional work and high dollar parts that most of these "ballers" on here have. Having $15k in a 95 Honda is easy for them when they live at home and mommy and daddy still buys their underwear...

high dollar parts....like a DIY valve cover, some shiny underbody braces and Rota wheels?? Yeah, that's straight BALLER status. I guess the A/C components were removed so it would be considered JDM as well???

Wasn't referring to those types of items there bud... I was talking about some of the other build threads on here and the negative comments on this guys work.

More so at the boyz with OEM JDM type R valve covers and $1500 Mugen wheels on a $500 94 coupe

How the hell does this even be deemed a "build" thread? The guy just slapped on some underbrace and painted the valve cover. No engine build, no DIY,....same ****, different forum member. BTW, who the hell replaces the stock FPR and still leaves in intact on the fuel rail? No tech there.

How does that differ from the OP's $1000 mugen header? He must live with his parents.

<---------- Doesn't live with parents, and doesn't rock fake parts.

What fake parts do I a have lol? The rota wheels that where pretty
Much givin to me? My bad I wanted to get
The car on the road. OH and my intake pipe isn't name brand(awaiting ups for my power chamber). Shoot me!
Ps first Honda build btw

I never deemed this as a build thread WHAT so ever. Didn't know every sort of how to/build/DIY thread had to be a 7,000 dollar engine build lmfaoooo

Including the shell this build is in the 9,000 dollar range and isn't near completion. How much do you expect me to dump into this in one year? And no I don't live with my parents lol
Thanks for the positive comments! The slight few of them : )

Ps. Have you guys looked at half of the other people's cars/builds? Most of them are auto zone specials. So I'm still not sure why I'm getting so much heat
