hi guys! new integra owner here!
hi everyone, i just picked up a 96 acura integra four door for 400 bucks. before anyone asks what condition it is in, it is complete, all body panels intact, and it has a clear texas title.
the original problems with the car were the car had to be jumped with a piece of wire at the starter, the wiring for the map sensor was shredded and only one wire was hooked up out of the three, the drivers side head light would not turn on, the car was equipped with a power steering rack n pinion that had the pump setup removed, the ac unit was missing but most of the components were in the trunk. except the dryer, the compressor and the compressor bracket. the rear trans mount was also missing a good chunk of rubber, and the spark plug wires were the wrong kind. i believe they were from a civic eg. also the car is running on open header, and no air filter was included. the sun roof was not in operating condition, and the check engine light will not come on for some odd reason.
it took me about an hour to get it to my firends house where we started to really mess with it. it wasnt until about an hour or two later we decided to change the following in order to get it in running condition:
-plugs
-hoses leading to and from the heater core, the water bypass tube and the u shaped hose leading off of the thermostat going into the intake manifold
-add coolant
-switch the bulbs on the cluster back n fourth to make sure all of them were working until we were convinced that it was not the bulbs that were the root of the problem for the cel not lighting up
-scanned the car for codes, came up with a bank 1 sensor 2(sensor after the cat) oxygen sensor, p1337(ckf), map sensor(wires were stripped), and a tps issue.
we managed to do that and decided it was time to get the car to my house. on the way there, i made a few calls and figured out that the possible reason why the car would not start was because there was a grommet missing from the clutch safety switch. so once i got home, i squeezed up under the dash and stuck my finger on the switch button and cranked her over, and wala she fired right up first time! after that i ended up figuring out that the reason why the driver side light was not lighting up was because there was a wire that somehow became cut in half on the frame harness. so we fixed that and it light right up.
the only thing(s) that are a concern that im looking to get some help on are the following things, id greatly appreciate any type of response.
-how to figure out why cel is not lighting up, all the wiring is intact, and the car is still throwing codes
- which color combination and which order do the tps and the map sensor wires go?
-how can i figure out why my sunroof will not open? and will i need to remove the interior panel to get to the motor or can i just trace the wires through the dash to see if there are any loose wires? or can i test for resistance on the wires with a volt-meter, and if so, which ones do i test?
thanks again everyone!

so i ended up going to the junk yard and snagging a map sensor plug with about 10 inches of wire. car still ran like ****, then it finally dawned on me to check firing order and the cap. of course the firing order was all screwed up. so fixed that, fired her up and she sounded like an actual teg on open headers.

ok so the car is purring like a kitten, i dialed in the idle air adjustment screw, changed the plugs, bypassed the heater valve since it was broken and ran a hose from the side of the head to the other port on the heater core. NOW, im realizing the fan is not kicking on. so hopefully ill figure something out. i even went to the extent of jumping the two wires with the car on accessory with a piece of wire. nothing happened. so now im stumped. im gonna dig through the net and on here to see if i can find out every single thing it could be. looks like this is gonna be a long night lol.

do work! do work! do work! i managed to get the car up n running with the cv axles installed!! but i also found out the whole dam way home, the fuxing pass side tie rod had no bolt in it and the wheel was doing its own thing but here are some pix of todays work during the day
fyi, the wires were cut to a clean identifiable color scheme, cleaned and soldered with a soldering iron and then heat shrink tape, then the loom was reused and then went the electrical tape.
more later

Re: hi guys! new integra owner here!
Slapped a Gsr head on the ls block, stripped 2 head studs, bought 2 more for 25, got new head gasket and intake gasket, brought over my greddy air/fuel gauge, my Neptune system, my edelbroc intake Mani, the bennen industries fuel rail, the 1200cc injectors I had sitting on my shelf, picked up a 5 lug conversion, got a rear mount for free, brought over my catch can and lines, converted everything, bought a Gsr water pump, a gates timing belt was sitting on my shelf so I brought that over too. A lot of **** has been going on so no time to update.

Re: hi guys! new integra owner here!
You seem to know a lot about cars.. haha.... I'm new to this, just turned 16 and just recently became very interested in cars. I bought a 1990 Acura Integra GS for 1300 a few months ago and I'm wondering where/how should I learn things about my car and other cars?? I am very interested and willing to learn. Any help will be great! Thanks!!!!!!
