um well thats kinda hard to base ET's.....i mean weather for one, plays an important role of your trips to the track.....you need some tuning...

Yeah, there is much more to it then 2 time slips, there are sooo many variables that play a part in it. How does the car feel compared to before the install?

I have the SAME problem. People are telling me 2 different things.
1. I need a Fuel Pressure Regulator and bump the pressure up.
2. The cam timing is off by a tooth.
Up to 5000rpm, its alright, but in Vtec it LAGS like hell. Takes DAYS to get up to Redline. Definately something wrong. Shop said its because the cams are big and not enough Fuel Pressure for the higher Rpms. The other group says its the Cam timing and that its probly off by a tooth.
DAMN it! I have no idea what the problem is...

Skunk2 Cam Gears (set to 0,0 right now)
AEM CAI
DC 4-1 Header
VAFC - 5200rpm Vtec X-over
Stock Fuel Pressure is at 38? 40?
Shop said I need it close to 52-54.

Try moving up the vtec cross-over point to 5700 or 6000. This should help you out.

Re: Help! just installed my skunk2 cams on my Gsr (Skunk2nR)
I am going to be installing stage 1 cams, cam gears, and the ITR valve train this Monday. I do not have all the electronic goodies to go with the cams because my first priority was getting the parts in because I'm going back to school in a few weeks. Is this a common problem? From what I have read the car should run on the rich side from the factory so there should be plenty of fuel available without upping the pressure. I plan on getting an DC JDM 4-1 header, VAFC, and FPR before heading to the dyno. Am I probably going to be losing power in the mean time?

I wouldn't expect any big horsepower gains until you buy that VAFC, FPR and then hit the dyno. You might even lose some power. I would take it easy after putting the cams in until you get it dynoed. Good luck.

I have the Skunk2 Stage 2 cams, with no FPR, but I do have a VFAC..I love it...Pulls nice til about 6, then takes off...VTEC crossover at 5700..Cams set at 0,0..Going to get it chipped and dynoed at a differeent place...Waiting for MORE power!!!

Re: Help! just installed my skunk2 cams on my Gsr (chingchong)
ok. Just got back from the shop and we checked it out and it wasn't off a tooth. It was Straight. So that's not the problem...
I kicked up the Vtec X-over point to 5700rpm and its a bit better.
I can feel my car pull better from 3000rpm - 5700rpm compared to my stock cams, but in Vtec, it just kind's of hesitates. Not by alot, but it doesn't shoot up like its suppose to. We're gonna try to get an FPR in and up the Pressure on Monday and see if it pulls in Vtec like its suppose to.
Cam gears are still at 0, 0 but we might try +2 and -2 and see if its any better. Crossing finger* Hope it works and runs strong when its done.
After the FPR and if it STILL doesn't solve the problem, we're gonna take apart the motor and check closely again. Anyone know what the problem might be? Any tips or tidbits you guys wanna share?

Re: Help! just installed my skunk2 cams on my Gsr (Skunk2nR)
this all sounds wrong --- im sure the fuel would help, but the skunk2 stage 1's are supposed to be a drop in 8-11 whp, and a tuned 17-19 whp....you should NOT be running slower if you installed the cams and gears correctly.

Re: Help! just installed my skunk2 cams on my Gsr (Skunk2nR)
dont listen to drop in **** tha'ts bullshit, well not entirely, u will lose it somewhere and gain it elsewhere...as opposed to ITR cams, which are drop in and u get gains no losses at least not noticeable. Skunk2nr, i really doubt it's an FPR go ahead and try, but my friend that dropped them in didn't have that problem. another friend of mine had the same prob w toda B's ,...but became happy when it got tuned so just go get it tuned. u mite not need an FPR...but it helps.
