alright I have been toying with custom exhaust stuff and heres what I came up with: (for 92 integra gs)

DC sports ceramic 4-2-1 header $296
ebay test pipe/resonator: $25
magnaflow 14" by 4" round muffler (2.5") as resonator $55.31
magnaflow 5x8x14" oval muffler (2.5" straight through) as main muffler $65.31
borla dual tip (2.5" inlet) either part#20213 (slanted) or 20203 (round) $102.10 for either

total=$543.72 + labor and 2.5" piping (around $200) =$743.72
is it worth it for a few hp and good looks?

$750 for an exhaust? Ahahaha Save your money for something better and get a used exhaust for $200.

nothing is really made for DA's though... except ricer exhausts
same thing I ran into with my old car

but yes its a lot of money, but if I just did cat-back then take $300 off... but is it worth it?

right now I have a major ricer action going on (the car came that way) with the ebay muffler pointed slanted up/out the backleft side in the rear...and all stock piping. go figure...

RSR made an amazing exhaust for DAs, when I had mine they were the exhaust to get. I had a HKS which I really liked. There are plently of exhaust you can find especially on some forums. Check g2ic.

You could buy that mugen exhaust, floating around...post titled "mugen how rare?" or something lke that.

why dont you search the classifieds here on HT also. Im sure you can find something.

here's what idid on my 97 gsr it sounds so good and its cheap, my buddy has a stock exhaust system from acura rsx type-s so i took it to the local muffler shop and i had them run a high flow cat and 2.5in pipe all the way and found me a good exhaust tip...u can feel the gain on horse power and its not loud and annoying........try this 101% good

so you just used the muffler off the rsx exhaust?

one thing that is different in my exhaust from yours is the left side output instead of the right, so two more 90 degree bends

oh yeah coz on 97 gsr there was no modification of any kind on the end muffler all the brackets and the hangers just fits right from rsx to gsr....try to find a stock muffler from rsx it sound so good

What's the point of the free-flowing exhaust and cat that you spent money on if it all bottlenecks at a stock muffler anyway?

Well yea, but I'm saying if you want it to be quiet, leave the stock exhaust. No point in putting in all that money into an exhaust to not gain any power.

RS-R. Quiet like stock, until you open it up. Then it sounds mean, not ricey.

if you found all the pieces you needed or wanted...and you actually were ready to go through with it, i weld for a living and have a welder at my house, just come to bellevue and consider that labor cut out or down significantly.

hmm... good to know... I am not ready to do exhaust now... not sure when either, just considering costs/looks for now but thank you!

I'm also going to look into the rsr systems

rsr looks nice but its too expensive... $590 for the cat back only... hmm

The cheapest would be to A) buy used locally B) buy the parts and get it welded, but only if you find good prices on the parts and piping C) buy used off H-T, if you look long enough you can find some good deals

on my old car I spenta total of $305 by buying a magnaflow muffler and a nice magnaflow dual tip and 2.25" piping

the thing I didn't like about it was it still sounded a little ricy, and thats why I want a resonator as well as a muffler, and I would prefer 2.5" piping, but it seems they do'nt have the right size tip through magnaflow that I like, and thats why I was looking at the borla tips, but they are twice the cost of the magnaflow...

so basically, I could do cat-back for like $350 if I go with 2.25" piping and the magnaflow tip. I was pretty happy with the shop that did the welding work before... and it was just around $200 after tax usign my parts.

Yea get a resonator for sure so it isn't too raspy. Basically buy a nice straight-through muffler, resonator, piping, and flanges, and take it to someone to weld it cheap but not crappy so the welds don't start cracking over time. I wouldn't be too worried about the tip.

for a 1.8L NA is 2.25" piping good enough? or would 2.5" be worth the difference?

i'm not a big fan of the dual tips and honestly, that's a lot of money to spend on an exhaust...you could get a 4" Aluminum exhaust for about the same price...not that you need that, but putting it in perspective. That is really expensive and personally i would have a hard time justifying that
