can't be piston ring, i did a leak down test already and bottom block is very healthy, i started the car, let it warm up, and then rev it to like 7k for a good 10 seconds and there were a lot of smoke from the back.

Maybe because of the fact you are reving your car at 7k?? I dont know of a Honda that doesnt smoke a little at real high RPM's. Jesus Christ dude, take it easy.

haha, funny! but yeah, how many miles is on that engine? a little smoke isn't too bad, i guess it just depends because reving up to 7k is harsh

Re: gsr smoke when rev high
water is proly condesation. if u were leaking enoough coolant to have it come out the tail pipe u wouldnt be reving to 7k and itd be running like crap. Wat color is the smoke. White ur burning water (very bad usually = bad head gasket) black ur running rich (which happens when ur reving to 7k ur ecu tends to use a lil more fuel than nessicary since a lean fuel mixture at 7k could = motor go boom) and blue ur burning oil (again if you have a few miles on it this is normal when reving the living **** outta ur motor as long as its not smoking during normal driving) this means ur rings are worn.

I can't believe it took that long for someone to ask about/mention the color of the smoke. It would be a lot easier to narrow it down if we knew what color the smoke was, and whether its a stock motor or not.

I honestly dont think there is a thing wrong with your car, other than the fact you are doing really stupid things, like reving it up to 7k for 10 seconds ..... No offense dude, but dumb.

Re: gsr smoke when rev high
did it sit for a long period of time?
sound like the water could just be condensation.
do a compression check and report with numbers. that'll tell you if the rings are bad or not.
you could also check the valve clearences while your at it.

Maybe it was cold outside when he was revving it? My car has steam/moisture that comes out of the exhaust when it's a cold-ish morning. But my car isn't a honda either.

compression is 210 all across, also did leak down test and only leak from exhaust valves, 10% leak, that's about it. the reason why i reved it to 7k was because i have a launch control set there and was just testing it out.

Re: gsr smoke when rev high
same problem as me, so i took my head off again and i just did a head gasket change..i don't think you torque it to specs. because we just used a regular rachet..guessin and all but in the spring i'm gonna use a torque wrench! mines does the same thing as yours..because it wasn't tight enough...
