Re: GSR launching (Byaaah!)
Launch... is gonna depend on what you have done to your car. Stock I'd say 3.5k ish (Varies on car/driver/style). For shifting I'd say 2.5k RPM no less (city driving/cruising). Its a manual so its really up to you.

With my drag radials, i have my 2step set at 5000 rpm and i shift at 8500rpm. That 2 Step is too low for slicks...
Like was already said, it depends on your power level and traction.

are you talking about the downshift if you're racing from a roll?

Re: GSR launching (GMon3y)
you launch your car when you are stopped. if your going 50 you cant launch because your already moving. and shift at redline if your racing normal driving would be about 3.5K

Your reply is both off topic and factually incorrect. You are referring to an optimal shift point, which occurs where the HP in gear n equals the HP in gear (n+1). Unfortunately, that does not occur before the rev limiter engages on a stock B18C1. Therefore, the optimal shift point for the B18C1 is at the rev limiter.

"what is a good rpm to launch my car in when just driving around normally like 50 mph"
Why would you launch at 50 mph? Your question is confusing...
"and what about good rpm to be shifting"
Well if you are just driving normally then between 2.5-3k rpm, but if you are launching and racing someone then launch around 4k depending on your mods and what tires you have and shift at red line.

shift wherever the hell you want, thats why i went with a manual.
and for optimal performance shift at redline (not responsible for you or your car)

Normal driving conditions would call for about 2k to get the sled moving, shifting around 3k for gas mileage.
For racing, I'd launch no lower than 4.5k RPM. This would really depend on the motor and where the peak torque is on the graph. These little motors make so little torque you'll want to find that specific RPM for peak torque and launch there.
As far as racing and up-shifting.. you'll want to tune the car for a plateau in the power-band. This way you'll get a consitant HP over a RPM range. At every shift, if tuned correctly, you'll drop right back into your power-band instead of working up to a peak amount of power and then shifting out of it again.
This is a nasty little trick that got a certain B16A powered CRX to spank so many cars it "shouldn't" have.

x2...when i'm at the track, i wait for the tach to almost clip 9k and then shift...my track times suck so maybe that's not the best method 13.3 @115 ftl
