Re: Grind from 2nd to 3rd gear in 92 gsr tranny???? (allmotorb17a)
I had a slight grind in my ys1 at high rpms is 3rd gear. Its a typical problem with honda trannies. What i did was bought gm syncromesh friction modified transmission fluid (availible at gm dealer) and changed my fluid with this. Its been 15,000 miles and no more grinds. Alot of honda owners have used this and rave about it. It should take the grind away or make it less noticable.

whoa, you changed the fluid and your grind stopped???? my old 95 gsr tranny had a grind from 2nd to 3rd gear and i just bought a whole new tranny from a 98 gsr. was your grind real bad like all the time or just when you pushed it passed like 4500 rpm's???? im gonna try that on my tranny.

It's definately the synchros. B series transmissions (especially older ones) are notorious for wearing out synchros. Depending upon how bad it is, Synchromesh may or may not help you.

The Synchromesh Friction Modified isn't recommended unless you're equipped with an LSD. The regular Synchromesh should do fine.
