Default GReddy Evo vs. GReddy SP

Alright I think I am going to go with a catback exhaust system before I lower my car. I've narrowed my choices to the GReddy Evo and the GReddy SP. I've done a lot of searching on this board, and I am trying to decide which one suits me better.

I want an exhaust that is noticeably different from stock, but not too loud. From what I have read on this board (testimonials)...it seems like the SP might be a little too much like stock and the Evo might be too loud. I want to make a decision by this weekend, so I was hoping for some more feedback from you guys. Also...how much HP are these exhaust systems going to free up? I'm not expecting a huge difference in power...just curious.

Any info is greatly appreciated...thanks

Greddy EVO.. and they arent going to free up hp. you might even lose hp, depending on your mods... if youhave cam gears.. suggest you get it tuned again after the exhaust...

the sp is quieter... the evo louder..

I hve the EVO on now.. and on my other GSR I have the PE.. no experience with the SP..

I say EVO all the way!!!

SP is quieter than the Evo. No doubt! I've had the SP even before I had boost and power is usually noticeable from mid to high. Both are great exhaust catback system btw so it's really up to your choice.

the SP isn't even CLOSE to stock. it IS quieter than the EVO though (on a range of 1-10, the EVO is a 8 and the SP is.. a 4).

i like my SP better

Get the SP. The EVO is just plain annoyingly loud. I am looking for another exhaust right now. I will be selling my EVO as soon as I figure out what catback is nice and free flowing and be close to stock loudness

I guess I can offer a comparison since I've had them both.. right now I have the Greddy Evo on my car.. and my SP is sitting in my garage... the reason why I replaced the SP (after 3 yrs of use) was because the resonator rusted out and made an annoying rattling noise.. then if that wasnt enuff.. the rear muffler portion of my SP started blowing chunks of composite/fiberglass cubes out of the tip Lolz.. I started to wonder what the hell where these little square cotton ball looking (but felt harder than cotton) chunks in my garage floor... then I figured out it was coming out of the exhaust (and also figured out the rattle)..

anyway the SP is quieter than the Evo.. the SP has a flat/straight surface against the rear of the car.. and when sumone follows you.. their headlights shine on it and it blings (shines) a little too much.. when my friends would follow my car (they'd have thier headlights and foglights on) they would say my SP would shine right back/reflect their headlights and it was VERY noticeable.... power wise their about the same IMO...

the Evo is a little louder and it has an offset tip and puts the canister upper a little suppposedly to accomodate lowered cars.. I scraped w/ my SP.... I still scrape some w/ my Evo.... my cars lowered on Eibach sportlines and Koni Yellows.. so its dropped about 2" or so (approx)... I've only had the Evo for about a year .. or maybe year and a half by now.. and so far its help up and been good.. I've been pulled over before but showed the cops the paperwork and print outs from Greddy's website saying how it complies w/ the VC's (Vehicle Codes) and hte cops were like oh ok... and let me go.. one cop was actually really nice about it.. he was all "thats very good that you chose an aftermarket exhaust to comply w/ the local laws" and he was real nice about it that I WANTED to follow the laws/noise laws, etc..

either one is a good exhaust.. the Evo is a bit louder.. and the SP is NOT stock sounding.. it has a deep rumble and when u get on it.. it can be loud.. the EVO is a bit louder than the SP but I have a pretty nice stereo system so I don't mind/dont hear it that much... both nice systems though.. thats why I went w/ Greddy again... I kind of wish the tip was smaller.. I DID like my double walled tip on my SP a bit more than the thin wall on the Evo.. but I like how the Evo's canister/muffler portion is less noticeable/less blingin than the SP.. oh wellz.. I'm painting it flat black next time I have spare time to take off my exhaust and paint it.. (been putting this off.. prolly do it in Sept.. ).. but yeah Greddy

SP is great ! it gets loud when you step on it but otherwise it is pretty quiet. No droning on the highway and stock at idle.
I got it because I drove on the highway a lot and I wanted something which would not drive me crazy.

If you don’t drive on the highway too much then get the evo otherwise get the SP.

i like the evo on my gsr, not sure if it has a different sound then a si, but it's not ricey, and it's only luud when you get on it.... something i kinda enjoy. my favorite thing about it is it's deeper note and the fact that it's doesn't "pop" when decelerating.... i hate that. i've had it for a year, and i'll get another evo if the time comes. just my .02

I have the SP and I think it's loud on the highways. Granted, it's not as loud as other aftermarket exhausts, but it's definitely not nearly as quiet as stock is. Anytime you gun it, you'll hear the exhaust. It's much deeper sounding than other exhausts and not as loud. It's also smooth-sounding, but if you add an intake, the exhaust will sound more throatier. BTW, I've had mine for 4 years now and no rust problems (*knock on wood).

I had my SP for a week and sold it. The muffler itself is huge and the tip is ugly. At least the Evo has the offset tip so you don't see that big *** canister. I say fk Greddy and get a Comptech. Or A'pexi. Or Tanabe. Or Skunk2.

Thanks for all of your replies guys...I still don't know which one to get...I'm leaning more towards ths SP. I wish I could find some sound clips to really hear the difference.

I do mostly highway driving (35-40 miles/day) with an occasional long trip (300+ miles) so I think the EVO would get annoying after awhile. I do like the looks of the EVO better...

I used to have a 99 Gsr and I have had both the SP and the EVO.
I had the SP before the EVO came out. But when I saw the EVO I sold my SP and bought the EVO. Soon as I bolted the EVO on I was like damn that looks awesome!! Then I started it up and it sounded bad ***. When taking off from a stop you can hear the exhaust, the SP was just too quiet. Cruising on the highway you can barely hear the EVO so, it is not annoying especially if you have the radio on. If I was you I would go with the EVO, I think it is what you want. You will like it. I loved mine.

I didn't like my EVO exhaust when N/A. I thought it was pretty buzzy sounding. After getting the turbo, it sounds pretty good.

type one...
definitely your quiet exhaust.. haha j/k

on a scale from 1-10, i thought the evo was a 7-8( my si with dc headers and intake). type one.. i'd say a 15 without the silencer.

the evo is quiet, the sound of my engine is louder than the exhaust, but the evi is loud enough to let you know its there
