I know you dont give them the phone number, I also asked about the ESN/HEX numbers and they still said they cant track it. I talked to several different people including the tech/security department and all said it cant be done with a non-activated phone. Weather or not you give them the numbers. IDK maybe the 6 different people I talked to didn't know about it. </TD></TR></TABLE>
I been researching this. And I keep coming to a dead end with all the companies. espicialy verizon. They said they are not obilgated to give out such info because it a security issue. Its starting to seem like a false hope. I even called back twice to talk to someone else. I even tried to track my blackberry from tmobile. Was told it won't work. My neighbor has the old phone that you mention that is verizon and they said no way. People please don't make this your first layer of security. There are going to be alot of threads that my car was stolen with a cell phone gps unit.

Re: (Flood5)
You are better off with a true GPS-tracking system. Aftermarket systems like The Witness (www.thewitness.net) have a true backup-battery and smart power management, so even if the car's battery is cut, you can still recover the vehicle. Second - it actually works in the US and Canada, unlike the above homebrew which does not work over the border. And Third - Insurance savings! Yep, installing a real tracking device can save most people enough on their insurance to more than cover the monthly subscirtion costs!

Seems like ppl are saying it won't work w/ any carrier, especially the big ones, verizon and sprint, so if it doesn't work why waste a good phone and try it ??

95% chance you are not going to get this one back too if you trust this. Just use it as a usure layer.

Re: EndlessDc2 -- Insurance
No, the insurance company has NO access to your data or location! They just need 'proof of installation' for your discount. The ONLY person who can see your speed is yourself (or whomever you have given your access codes to!).
