Fuse Block Meltdown
LAsst year about this time my 90 teg died on me while I was driving on the highway. Car jsut shut off, and would crank faster than normal, but not start. Had it towed back home and I began the search for the problem. After 3 days out of work testing about everything I could, I couldn't find the problem. Had it towed to a shop owned by a family friend. He replaced the distributor and the car worked agian. The car started up rough however. It would crack sometimes 2-30 times before actually starting and other times it was fine. Since by this time it was getting colder out, I said F'it and jsut left the car alone, and it was fine all through the winter. Summer came and the car died on the highway once again. Had it towed to the same shop since I thought the dizy failed and I had a warranty on it. The shop replaces a bad "shut down" relay. The fixed the car for about a day, then it was back in. They replaced the dizzy, and still nothing worked. New coil...nothing. They started tracing wires since by this time they thought it was a ground issue and found that the underside of the fuse block had a meltdown. About halk the fuses were completly destroyed and the shop, to save prices just rewired inline fuses, which I am fine with. Anyone ever hear of this happening?
No wonder I didn't find it.
Cliffs: Engine bay fuse block melted. Ever hear of that happening?

Re: Fuse Block Meltdown (VHOA)
That's what I thought the fuses were for, to keep catastrophic failures like yours from occuring. Sounds like you had a short and it caught the box on fire. Surprized that you didn't smell the nasty burning plastic smell.

Technically I never saw the fire becaurse there was none. The fuses kind of jsut melted together.
Also, after I got the car back, the CEL came on, and the car won't rev about 3k now. Hit a magical limiter. Hate this car!
