first car = 93 Integra Si VTEC 1.8
Good morning/afternoon/evening all, i'm new here so please excuse if I annoy you in anyway.
Ok, I've just brought my first car (about time, i'm 24). And it's the one stated in the title of this post. The cars history is a bit of a mystery, i mean I dont even think the Si VTEC existed in 1992?? I think it's from 1993 myself. I know it's a Japanese import and the head has had a '99 Type R transplant (complete B18C5).
It has no service history either so I plan to get it serviced by Honda. Before I do that though I want to purchase mods for it so that the Honda guys can fit those in instead of standard parts.
I'm looking for performance air filter, oil filter, maybe throttle body, air intake (maybe cold air intake), spark plugs and cables, also need a better exhaust system to cope with the Type R head and mods (currently has a standard) and maybe struts as well.
I'm stupid when it comes to modifications and what not because it's my first car and my knowledge level is slowly climbing the learning curve. So can anyone suggest what the best (in your opinion) brands/models are for all the above. Money isn't too much of an issue at the moment so please do not hold back
Comments, arguments and advice would be appreciated.

Since you have a Type R motor, there is no reason to really change your throttle body considering yours is pretty good. If you wanna get an upgraded oil filter you can order a HAMP one. It's made by Honda and is a little better then the OEM part. I think the Comptech or J's Racing intake would be a good addition. Your really aren't going to need upgraded spark plugs and wires, just get replacement OEM they are really good quality pieces. There are quite a bit of good headers made for that motor. You need to decide what you want, forced induction or natural aspiration. Because turbo or supercharging would need larger diameter exhaust piping. 2.5 for forced induction, and 2.25 for natural aspiration. If your motor is a JDM one, then you will already have the JDM 4-1 header with 2.5 collector. If you were to continue on the natural aspiration thing, get some cams, headwork and build the bottom end. If you go turbo or supercharger there are tons of kits to get you going. Hopefully this is a good starting point for you. I personally would start with suspension, wheels, and brakes in that order before I went into the motor.

hey man, good stuff on the buy. I would definately have a reputable honda shop (not necessarily honda) look at the car to see the overall condition of it.
you can do a lot of basic stuff (hopefully)
-change the oil and filter and drop the oil pan and pickup to look for any metal or other objects in there.
-while thats out, look at the cylinder walls for scarring.
-flush the coolant
-treat it with seafoam
-change spark plugs and wires
-get an aem or comptech intake
maybe more?
but 1 thing I have learned, maintenance before modification!

Re: first car = 92 Integra Si VTEC 1.8 (POWERINTEGRA)
Thanks for replying. JDMThoughts, it's not a complete Type R. It only has a Type R cylinder head unit, don't have the Type R throttle body or the exhaust system. I believe the air intake is different on the Type R as well?
Cheers for the info Sucka306, I'll definately look into those. And POWERINTEGRA I'll have some pics soon

Got pics? I'd like to see the motor.
Good choice on the gen2. If you take care of it, it will take care of you. Also, check out http://www.g2ic.com if you haven't already.

Cheers RayB I'll check that out.
BTW Sucka306 if the Cylinder walls are scarred would I need to replace the head? What does scarring indicate (that its been ripped by boy-racers??) ?

hey man, if the cylindet walls are scarred you need to bore and hone and get new pistons and rings. scarring just indicates an unmaintained or old motor.

Re: (sucka306)
Bump! and here are some photos of my motor as requested. Just to let you lot know I'm going to get the suspension upgraded first, then improve the breaking before any engine mods.
BTW, I just opened up my airbox and I fu*king found a plastic bag wrapped up around the air filter! I think the previous owner hoped for the ride to **** up! I do not know how my car has been breathing for the last 4 weeks thru that polythene bag..
these have been reduced in size,

Re: first car = 92 Integra Si VTEC 1.8 (T3-T4TEG)
that is at minimum a 94 integra.......and to my knowledge, integras did not have an SI version, thats for civics........if you got the year of the car off the doorjamb and it says 93 , then it is a 94. the model year is one year after the production year, the new models are released after production, like i said that is a 94 integra at least, that is a 3rd gen integra, 93 integras were a different design, sucka 306 has a 2nd gen, post pics to show the difference since this guy is unfamiliar with it.......

Re: first car = 92 Integra Si VTEC 1.8 (Stock_LS)
if you guys didn't notice he said si vtec integra. so a 93 model year would be a DC since its not a USDM model. we're a model year behind everyone. not really, we just like to release the next model year a year early. like you can buy an 05 whatever in june 04.
