engine harness help (wire tuck)
The oem harness im running in my car has missing/ damaged connectors.. A factory harness is expensive and to find a uncut one is almost impossible.. I ordered a rywire tucked budget harness, I thought it would be plug and play.. Little did I know it's a bit more complicated then expected.. I really dont care for tucked/ shaved bays, they look amazing but in my case its for me DD i just need the harness to work properly.. I dont want to delete or relocate anything if possible.. has anyone done a tuck or used this harness?? If so, i need some light on were to begin.. please help im stuck!

I have the budget harness too for the same reason, love it what are you having trouble with ? it IS plug n play that's why I'm curious.

Re: engine harness help (wire tuck)
It feels like im missing harness, I believe there's no conectors for the abs (or what ever connects too the harness by the fuse box by battery) my main concern right now would be my lights, accessories etc.. I dont wanna go all out, I need something clean & simple.

Re: engine harness help (wire tuck)
the connectors for the lights/abs/etc are separate from the engine harness you have to split the loom between the dash-cabin harness and actual harness it's a pain but that's what needs to be done. In the pic I'm holding the wires that go to the headlights etc and the other part is the engine harness you'll need to split that loom it's not fun believe me. You'll also need to make room by the firewall plug so the Rywire one can fit threw

Re: engine harness help (wire tuck)
You don't need to cut them like I did, they're cut cause I'm extending them and running them threw the fender. Just grab a box cutter/exact-o knife and you can split it but I highly recommend removing the battery tray and the intake arm etc so you can get to things, not trying to scare you lol don't worry you can do this no splicing is required. Mine is still in progress I had to put it on hold so it's not too pretty. best things I can suggest are patience as you'll need to mess around under the dash it's self LOTs of lights box cutter/wire cutter and electrical tape. Good luck

Re: engine harness help (wire tuck)
The thing you're holing in your had is the exact same on the OEM harness just different shaped, as for the loose wires I'm not sure I just capped mine and tucked them. On the other side have you removed the battery tray ? it's 3 12mm bolts you'll need to, to get at the firewall where the two harness's go into the cabin. I don't have a pic but I can get you one/make a vid.

here you go OP my ac/fan ducting is removed from the dash bcuz race car(yes srs), you may have a hard time getting at that back harness if so.

Also how's the rubber peice on the firewall going to sit flushh with both harness running threw?? Those wires that you cut (abs, lights etc.) Where are they going to be connected??

Re: engine harness help (wire tuck)
the old OEM engine harness comes out leaving enough room for the Rywire one, you have to notch it out a bit(possibly) mine sits ok tho. I'm connecting them right by the headlights they're getting run threw the fender.

Re: engine harness help (wire tuck)
No I didnt split the inside yet.. (I realized you still have factory harness in, I thought u were doing the rywire?) the plugs from the rywire plug right up to the ecu... the thing im not too sure about yet is the taping of my old ecu plugs.. im not trying to cut any wires from my oem harness, I've done research and I really can't find anything helpful..

Re: engine harness help (wire tuck)
Yah and it got ripped apart when I pulled the engine this fall thus the stupid one for now, chase bays have good ones too. unloom that part they're separate the old harness can be taken out without having to cut anything

Re: engine harness help (wire tuck)
Splice into the wire 6-7'' away from your ECU pin, tapping wires isn't hard I've done it for headlights etc. http://www.backinblackgp.com/Tap_And_Splice.htm
if you can't run it threw just wrap it around a few times I like 1.5'' of stripped wire when ever i'm splicing.

Re: engine harness help (wire tuck)
I hope I can find my answer here! I picked up one of those tucked engine harnesses for my 94 Integra and saw some YouTube videos they plug up but don't touch the sub-harness. One, do I even need the sub-harness anymore? Two, what does the sub-harness do?

Re: engine harness help (wire tuck)
There are WAY too many different engine harnesses produced to answer your question definitively... meaning there is no "One size fits all" answer. You must provide the brand and source of the tucked engine harness you have purchased... and some detailed pictures of it if you want to get any useful help here.
