I everyone , It is possible to clean and do somes things in my engine bay without remove the engine from the bay ?

I mean , theres a product that can help me to clean the engine and the engine bay without remove the engine ?

I see the engines shampoo .. does it work well ?

I have really made some engine bays look very nice with some sort of engine degreaser, a brush, a sponge, a pressure washer and some time. If you live in the rust prone areas, washing the engine bay won't do much to improve the looks of it. But if your bay has just collected some dirt and oil, a good degreaser, and a pressure washer can really do the trick. Be sure to cover any electrical areas, like the distributor. I usually keep my car running too. Just an added note...almost everytime I have washed my bay, some part gets wet that makes the car run bad...do not wash your bay at 4:00 pm if you have to go to work at 5:00 pm. Allow time for it to dry out. Good luck!

i used simple green on mine, it worked well. It is good to clean is while its warm, but i wouldn't recommend having it running while you do it. and leave plenty of time for it to dry before you start it up. I unhooked the battery to be safe. I also dont think you need a pressure washer, a normal hose is enough

they sell this stuff at autozone called "black magic engine degreaser and shine". It works awesome. You can follow up with some spray on armor all and slight rag work.

Use a brush if there's heavy deposits.

The black magic stuff is di-electric. So you dont have to cover your alternator..just dont concentrate the water spray on it. Just get the engine warm, cover your air cleaner and start cleaning. You cant argue with results, yo:

I cleaned my galant and my EF with this stuff too....maybe not the EF..i dont remember. The galant was SUPER FREAKING dirty. Became really nice looking. I gave someone a jump and they were all "oooh...your engine's all clean and everything."

i think your wrong. Simple Green is a very well know cleaning supply. Make sure you dilute it though, its rather strong. I think the bottle recomends cutting it 50/50 with water, but you can do more water than that and still have it clean very well

I should look that stuff up, my engine bay is hella dirty. I do have a question though, can I use the simple green 50/50 (with water) on the painted parts of my engine bay as well? Or should I just keep it to the engine components and the hoses??

I doubt the simple green would hurt the engine bay...i used it on mine and saw no adverse effects. The paint cleaner will give you better results if areas of your paint are a little stained or discolored from the grease.

It will not harm the paint. We use it all the time, and it definitely helps if the engine is warm. We also wrap a plastic bag around the distributor or other vulnerable areas. Lastly, if you can find a foaming sprayer, it makes the s/g work much, much better. Good luck

1) Cover alternator, distributor, fusebox, battery terminals and intake (if not stock) with plastic baggies. Tie off if deemed necessary.

2) Spray down with water and spray everything down with simple green or engine degreaser, 2 bucks from an auto parts store.

3) Let the degreaser do its work for 5-10 min, especially if its the foaming type. I prefer to have a hot engine for this and close the hood to get a steam cleaning effect. Some people leave their car running. Either way works.

4) Spray everything down with water again.

5) I like to wipe down all the rubber hoses with tire dressing and dry everything with a microfiber or terry cloth. Then hit the VC with tire foam. These steps are optional depending on how nitpicky you are

i'm not equipped to remove my engine for the moment .. i'll do it when I paint the car , to repaint the bay too . A good clean up with simple green will be great for the moment !

puddles come from below not above.

I guess it should be alright, i personally wouldn't wash is running, i unhook the battery when i do mine, and give it time to dry before i run it. better safe then sorry, i dont want to short anything out
plus there is no need to have it running, what purpose would that serve? you should cover your filter too, so that would choke your motor anyway if you have an aftermarket sri

I wouldn't wash the engine while it's running. No point. Just get it warm...drive it around whatever. Then make sure the engine degreaser is meant to be put on a hot motor. The engine brite stuff is not. Some stuff is. The black magic stuff is meant for hot motors.

yea im not worried about cracking anything, im worried about water in the electrical connections

haha, about stuff not being for hot engines, that happened at my local autozone. The guy sprayed a degreaser on his running motor and it caught fire. The burned up car was in the lot for a while

what i was saying about the puddles is that the splash doesnt make it to many of the areas that a hose will, it mostly hits the underside of the engine. Honda built their cars to be safe from water below, the car isnt designed to drive in a rainstorm with the hood off. You might be fine, but why risk it? there is no benefit to leaving it running

im actualy gonna go clean a bay right now. My buddies dsm, maybe i will get some before after pictures and see how the simple green works on his (its pretty nasty)

At work we got a steam generator which is pretty much a pressure washer that sprays out boiling water and steam, it gets the engine bay clean without any chemicals and degreases any oil and road tar like nothing else i've used.
