I recently changed my rear calipers and after the e-brake was loose. I adjusted it from tightening the bolt under the armrest area. It worked decently for about a month or two and failed to stay adjusted. I've then adjusted it again leaving only just a little thread left. And now it is loose again but I dont want to keep having to adjust it, especially now bc there is barely any thread left. Any ideas what is wrong? I have a picture if it is any help. You can see in the picture how much it has been tightened.

does the nut work its way back? try some loc-tite if thats the problem. otherwise need more info....

No, it stays put, but the e brake loses grip after a while

yea the cable is more than likely stretched. Double check everything though make sure your pads are in good condition and the ebrake is attached the caliper correctly.

Make sure that your right ebrake is connected properly. The way that is pulled so far to one side makes me think that maybe it's just grabbing the left side brake.

The right side cable definetly needs to be replaced. Its Hella stretched.

Yea i was gonna resort to replacing the wires but i just wanted to double check that it wasnt anything else because it was working perfect b4 the caliper change...

I know I'm bring this thread back from the dead but I finally got to changing both my parking brake cables. I also bled all four of my brake lines in the proper order for an 96 integra(RR,LF,LR,RF).

After I was finished I adjusted the e-brake (Raise the E-brake one click, and tighten the adjustment nut as necessary until you feel the brakes starting to grip when manually turning the rear wheels. Release the E-brake fully and spin the wheels again, it should feel like it did originally with the brake disengaged.)

But the only problem with this was my right side caliper engaged way before my left side did. Both cables were getting pulled and yes, I connected the cables properly to the calipers. I tighten the nut until the left side slightly engaged with one click but the right side is gripped hard. And with the e-brake released the right side is still gripping hard. Should I leave it this way and maybe they will even out, or is it going to stay uneven?

Did you lube the caliper slide pins and verify that they're in good shape? That can cause a stuck caliper.

But, I certainly wouldn't leave it and hope it evens out with one rear brake sticking.

Slide pins were lubed when installed, neither caliper is stuck. I can only see this being the cause if the caliper were seized closed. Or one sticking even when the parking cables are disconnected or loosen but that's not the case. Its the fact that one caliper engages before the other when parking brake is pulled. Could the slide pin still be the culprit? or do you think there is another explanation?

I read "stuck caliper" and went straight to "check the slide pins".
Doesn't sound like it is the slide pins after reading it better.

Is there any mechanism for adjustment of the cable lengths? Messing with the parking brake is (thankfully) not something I have any experience on.

Nope, length isn't adjustable. I'm just hoping its not my calipers, because after all this problem did start after I changed them and I know I changed them properly. Everything is hooked up right though.

You think when I bled my brakes I should of had already adjusted my e-brake prior to the bleed? I don't see how that would make a difference though

did you ever figure out your problem? I got a car with a similar problem and the calipers are all in good shape.

ur problem is the calipers,, u have to adjust them,, the piston on the rear caliper acually spins and thats how u adjust them,,, the reason ur cable is uneven it's not cuz there strech is cuz ur plullin it when it's not the problem,,, let off on the cable til both cables r even the start spinin the rear caliper pistons, properly not to much til u feel tightness on the e brake lever it should tighten the rear wheels at 7- 10 clicks,,, this is D.A9 strech hatch glad to help,,,,,
