Default Speedometer Help

I am driving and the speedometer doesn't work it sits at zero. Then sometimes it works perfect, and sometimes it will seem right but when I accelerate it shoots up about 80MPH in under a second. Where is this problem coming from?
Any help would be great.

Your spedo cable could just be loose. Their should be some articles about how to replace the cable make sure it is all tight and in place. It is not that hard to replace it.
