Default Changing oil on gsr this weekend. What kind and how many quarts?

I was looking in the magazine and i saw some fancy article about oils that were made specifically made for vtec and high reving engines. I dont know maybe they were working their advertising magic on me. Honest opinion...what kind of oil should i get and how many quarts does the gsr motor take?

a lot of people use mobil 1 10w-30 fully synthetic.
i use castrol syntec 10w-30 only because mobil 1 burns a little bit and I dont wanna keep buying oil between oil changes.

Any 5W-30 oil will work for the GS-R, you need to put in 4.3 quarts. Buy the cheapest oil filter too, no need to spend too much money for oil and filter. Don't believe all the BS these guys say on here that you need to use this oil filter or that oil filter.

Wow, there is some wrong information posted above about the oil quantity. The amount of oil depends on which version Integra you have. The B18C1 engine (GS-R) and B18C5 engine (Type R) use 4.2 quarts including the filter. The B18B1 engine (GS, LS, RS) uses 4.0 quarts including the filter.

I use 5W30 viscosity. Honda recommends 5W30 viscosity, which is preferred at all ambient temperatures. You can also use 10W30 if it doesn't go below 20 degrees F in your area, but 5W30 is still preferred.

I use 100 percent synthetic oil, because it is better than conventional oil (it is more resistant to breakdown when it gets hot, and it flows better when cold). I sometimes use Mobil 1, and sometimes use Pennzoil Platinum. Wal-Mart does indeed have the lowest prices on oil, even lower than Sam's Club and Costco. Wal-Mart has five-quart jugs of Mobil 1 for $21.97 and of Pennzoil Platinum for $18.97, and sells individual quarts of Mobil 1 for $5.49-5.74 and of Pennzoil Platinum for $3.99. (Sam's Club and Costco charge $27.99 for a case of six quarts.)

I use only Honda OEM oil filters.

The performance isn't what I'm buying it for, but Mobil 1 burns real quick in my engine. The Royal Purple is a little better on the longevity, and I don't have to check the dipstick every week to make sure I have enough. Tried 10W-30 at 90K on my engine with both brands.

I've been using 5-30 or 10-30 Castrol GTX or Pennzoil (non synethetic) with any fram filter for over 10 years on all my hondas. My current honda has about 170k miles and runs like new. Go figure.

Mobil 1 is the best since it's tested on laboratory animals for proven effectiveness.
