Default Buying jdm front teg. What ya think ?

Ok I have been out of the car game for some years now. Well I need a car to commute to work (110 miles a day), I saw this and I fell in love and i think its a good deal let me know what ya think. Sorry only 1 pic of it and its not good. Not sure of all the brand of mods been a week since I last looked at it
* EDIT * i posted at bottom bout taking to mechanic
*edit well i dont think it would pass PA Inspection; no windhsield washers, fiberglass fenders, no high beams on jdm headlights, maybe the seats with 4 pt harness...all that wont pass i dont think...so i guess im gonna have to say no

1995 Integra GSR
-101,xxx miles
-Exedy Clutch
-Jdm Front End (fiberglass)
-Mugen Replica Front bumper
-WW Side Skirts (I believe)
-VIS Carbon Hood with reverse cowl
-VIS Carbon Trunk
-Aftermarket Intake Manifold
-15in Bronze Wheels (forget type)
-Skunk 2 camber kit (i think skunk 2)
-Powerslotted rotors
-Set of coilovers
-Stainless Steel Header
-Aftermarket cat
-Nice Exhaust not so big and loud
-Custom Paint (black then top is painted a graphite color to match carbon fiber)
-MSD Ignition
-Mugen Valve Cover
-Some Intake
-Set of racing seats custom wraped Black and gray swade with mugen stiched on it
-Rear seats same (black and grey swade with mugen)
-4 point harness
-Brand new Black carpet
-Door covers have swade in them
-Broadway mirror

I think thats about it. I drove the car it ran good when i drove it, no problems, no over heating, smoking, noises, etc.

Only bad part is it has a Reconstructed title. Thats why he did JDM Front End. I have never baught an R - Title car. He replaced front bumper, hood, airbags, fenders, rad support. Thats the only thing im worried about is buying an R-Title car...I know alot of ppl have baught them with no problems - but I haven't baught one till this one.... possibly.

He was asking 7,500 after about 2 weeks of talking got it down to $6,800.

So whats do you guys think

(sorry only 1 pic)

I think 7g is kinda steep...a non modified 95 gsr with 100k miles will go for 4 or 5 if lucky. Even though it has a jdm front, it's fiberglass which is cheap, i've seen fiberglass jdm fronts half the cost of oem metal ones. Personally i wouldnt pay anymore than 6500.

i completely agree. although yes its an acura 100k isnt ALOT but you are buying it for a daily driver.. you've got to think about how many miles you yourself are going to be putting on it daily and whether its worth the price. plus, you dont know what this guy has really done to the car, if he has installed the parts properly or if they are even quality parts.. id always be leary of buying a modified car from someone.. thats just my opinion though. not to mention as the other guy said fiberglass is not the same quality as oem obviously and it seems like he took the cheaper route with the jdm front.. good luck with your decision!

Thanks for the input.

I also don't like buying cars already modded. Only reason why I am doing it now was I wanted something different (for my area there are NO jdm tegs) and I just don't have the time myself to work on it. I know theres alot of problems that I can run into though. But im just glad he hasn't taken the motor apart if he would of I would not of baught it.

He did the body work himself and painted it (which i have to say is a good job) But with body work it could always be masking something else, that I realize.

I think 100k is pretty low for a acura, should be able to get 30k miles more with no problem (hopefully). He said he has done timing belt, valve seals, rear main seal, oil pan gasket, etc. So a good bit of maintence. But I am driving about 500 miles a week or more so I will be adding them up quick.

I appreciate the input guys.

personally i would pass as well...i picked up my 94 integra w/ a salvage title due to theft for only 1800 w/ 77,000 miles and no accident damage, just a missing front end. the guy probably paid WAY less for that gsr with way more damage, and is trying to get back what he put into it, if not more.

the bottom line is you don't know what he half assed on it, and obviously if the airbags deployed it had to be fairly significant damage. despite passing an inspection for the rebuilt title certification, i would pass as thats way too much to pay for a car with a sketchy history. i wouldn't gve him more than 4000. period.

ahow a little patience and something better will come along.

Well I am meeting the guy saturday to buy. But before I do I am taking the car to a very good mechanic (who cuts NO corners) for him to look over, compression test it, and see if it would pass PA Inspection (as the car is from WV). So I will see what the mechanic says before I make a decision.

Well perhaps he did a good job on the body work, but the buffer swirls and holograms in that pic above look like garbage.

- Fiberglass front end (never looks right from what I've seen, and probably not as safe as OEM metal)
- lots of aftermarket parts (does he have stock parts to give you also?)
- racing seats w/ 4 point harnesses, and no rollover protection, HUGE MAJOR DANGER!
- salvage title

I say hell no, stay far away from that.

Dang. Just saw the part about the salvage title. That car isn't worth anything.

its not salvage, its was salvage then built with a rebuilt title. been saftey checked at a honda dealership (where i baught my accord) there is a difference bettwen the two. and there are no holograms on the car (if your talking about hood its cf, and the roof is painted metalic grey flake), but there is buffer swirls. but thanks for the opinion, gave me things to think about.

rebuilt titles still aren't clean titles and are worth less imo.

I agree with you on that.
still better then salvage though, as salvage isnt drive able where as reconstructed is. but deff not like a clean title

I thought once a car has a salvaged title it will always be salvaged rebuilt or not...but in that case I don't think that is a good buy at all, do not let this guy sucker you. But if you feel that it's a good car go for it, but just saying at that price it's definitely not worth it. just me $.02.

nah. in pa if a car gets salvaged, then you can fix it and if its close to what it was and it passes a saftey inspection from a certified shop then it will get a reconstructed title. with salvage you cant drive them on the street with reconstructed you can. at least in pa

thanks for your opinion
im now thinking to let it go. i already got teh loan for it. but i think im just going to wait. feel bad cause i told the guy i would buy it...but i guess i gotta look out for myself

Are you sure on that, or is that just what you think? Cause in Idaho, rebuild/reconstructed is worse than salvaged/repaired title, and if it's unrepairable then you can't register it at all.

thats how it is here in WI, if you repair a salvage titled vehicle to OE specs and it passes a state inspection, you're golden. the salvage title is dismissed and rebranded as rebuilt. keep in mind, "salvage" can be applied to a vehicle for more reasons than collision damage i.e. theft or flood, etc

"fiberglass front end" only thing fiberglss i can see is FENDERS. since it says he got CF hood and Mugen rep bumper. Soo diff between a "metal" front end vs a Fiberglass one is what.. 100$ in this case? but if ut were to have Fibergalss front bumper, fiberglass hood, fiberglass fenders, fiberglass grill, then price is about 500-700$ difference..

nothing wrong with fiberglass fenders except cant lean against them and cant slamm cause u will rub and = crack!

i'm 120% sure on that. like wbat was said before you can get a salvaged title from flood, theft, or wreck. while it has a salvage title you can not register it or insure it so therefor you cant drive it.
however once you fix it to factory condition replace everything damaged or stolen, then you can apply for a reconstructed title - take it to a certified shop have them look over it, fill out a ton of forms, inspect it. If it passes you get the reconstructed title, then you can register and insure the car. it is still branded a R-title not a clear title, but it is no longer a salvage title.

Look at those fenders again, there are mad holograms from improper use of a power buffer.
