Default Bummer of a day in the Teg Beast.

NEW PROBLEMS POSTED AT BOTTOM OF THREAD, PLEASE READ i need help!!!

I was driving down the freeway and went to shift gears and "missed" 4th. I believe the clutch didn't initially disengage because when did get it in gear, the clutch then would not re-engage. The pedal was stuck on the floor, so I pulled it back up with my foot and tried giving it a little gas but the engine nearly free-revved and the clutch was making a high pitched whining noise..

I had the car towed back home to my parents' house... I guess It will have to come apart next time I'm back from school... I'm sure there's already a clutch writeup but maybe I'll get ambitious with some pics and write out some instructions. But in the mean time, I'm really upset about not having my car to drive around. lame!

haha whats up fellow washingtonian. sounds like you just lost hydraulic pressure i can almost guarantee that if you open the clutch fluid resevior there wont be anyhting in it. probably a leaky slave cylinder

washingtonians ftw!

I HOPE its something that simple! I checked the fluid and it was full, then popped the cover off the slave cylinder and checked the clutch fork and slave cylinder as best as I could just standing there on the side of I-5... But maybe (and hopefully) I overlooked something

Okay.... New problems, I need your guys' help...

So I replaced the clutch... One side of the clutch disk was shattered into oblivion. Zipped it all back up and what do you know, the clutch pedal falls flat to the floor. No pressure...

So I checked out the slave cylinder and it was indeed making good contact on the clutch fork, so I proceeded to bleed the system and there were air bubbles in it (although how they got there I would have no idea! I didn't take anything apart to do with the slave or master cylinder.)

After being unable to revive the clutch pedal pressure we stood around scratching our heads for a few minutes then I tried pushing back down on the pedal again, and what do you know.... It fell flat on the floor again and any pressure that we had gotten back was GONE. Yet there are no leaks to be seen. I'm so confused as to what could be going on, someone please help!

Could it be possible that my master or slave cylinder simultaneously went bad along with my clutch? Or is there something I'm missing here?

If your slave cylinder is black and your master cylinder is still white, then they should be fine.

What are you talking about?

Odd are you have a bad master cyl or slave cyl. Personally I would replace both so they both are new, and call it a day.

lol well some of us are broke. I went with the master cylinder and problem solved! Its just strange to me that the master cylinder would blow out the same time that my clutch disk blew up. Odd coincidence or what? Do you think the clutch blowing out could have caused the master cylinder to blow? because I don't see how that could happen...

So.... Slave cylinder has been replaced, and pressure was established in the clutch pedal, however after a few days of sitting, the clutch pedal is lacking some pressure. Not as bad as before, but it definitely is not right.

Any ideas? I don't see any leaks from ANYWHERE so I am really baffled as to what could be the problem...

Did you bleed the system after the install?

yeah, but I'm going to try bleeding it again.... Its just weird how one day it would be fine and the next it has more air bubbles? this is beyond me... I'll give it a try again and post what happens...

Is it just me or do other people have this issue??

I've heard that it can be hard to get all the air bubbles out, because they can 'hide' in some parts of the system. Hopefully that's your only prob. GL.

i know my clutch master cylinder was leaking under the dash and was pumping air into my slave cylinder system. did the same thing, and sometimes it worked fine, but sometimes the release felt wierd. changed out the master cylinder and never had the problem again.

I bled it a little more then adjusted the master cylinder rod out more and it seemed to fix it, hopefully it remains in working order, only time will tell now

Hey what's up fellow Washingtonians. I had the same symptoms and I popped the hood and felt around the slave, leaky as hell, no hydraulic pressure.

You guys should hit up the H-T meet may 1st I'll be there.

Or check Krispy Kreme every friday, unless you already do that.

Washington FTW (besides rain. =])
