it's ok. those bolts are just plain difficult. you might end up loosening them 1 degree at a time.
you could try a short ratchet or thumb driver with a socket.
reminds me of the radiator swap i just did on my buddy's jeep wrangler. last time i offer help on that job.

You gotta go at them from underneath. Many different length extensions and a universal joint or two will be your friends. That's how I did it anyway.

Sounds like you might have an air pocket in the cooling system and possibly a vacuum leak. Start by getting the air pocket out then spray brake cleaner around the intake flange to the head and at the throttle body flange. If the idle drops then you have found your leak.

swivel socket is your friend.
To get the last 2, I went with a long extension that put the wrench just past my IM, then a swivel socket to get in at a weird angle, then a 12mm 3/8ths socket.
And lots of patience. Don't punch the engine if you get mad, it just hurts you, trust me.

Are you sure you capped that coolant line correctly?
Double check all your torque settings. Double check all your vacuum lines and try to feel and listen around the IM for leaks. Also, get rid of the coolant bubbles.
