Bent Rod
I have an built lsvtec in my 96 integra. I let someone borrow my car and they miss shifted from 3rd into 2nd. It blew my wastegate off on one side because the bolt snapped in half. After it was put back together we thought everything was fine. The oil pressure light kept coming on, I raced a guy the next day and noticed I started losing power at around 6000 rpms, my vtec wasn't engaging and my idle was bogging a lot. I took it into a shop to get it fixed two days later and I have a bent rod. My rod bearing is all chewed up. The shop says it was definitely caused by a miss shift. The person who did this does not believe it was them because they think it was fine for two days before I took it to the shop. His parents don't think a bent rod can cause a lot of damage. Does anyone know where I can find proof of what damage miss shifting can cause and what damage a bent rod can cause? The mechanic said I am lucky I had forged internals, otherwise it would have thrown a rod.

Re: Bent Rod (sloteg)
To describe this in more detail. I also seen this motor. The rod is only bent a few thousands of an inch to the point where we had a hard time unscrewing the rod bolts out. The bearing is trashed, i believe after the miss shift and tweaking the rod a little it started to eat the bearing and a few days later it was bad to the point that the oil pressure was running 20 psi under load. I personally think this motor was lucky, if it didn't have forged intenals it would have ruined the whole bottom end. Bye the way this guy was around 7500 rpm's in 3rd gear and miss shifted to 2nd. Lucky Very lucky!!
Lets hear your input guys.
