whats up everyone, i have a 1992 LS integra 5 spd, original b18a1 161,xxx miles, few bolt on mods have been done but nothing major. This noise has been going on for quite some time now, i can best describe it as a grinding or chirping noise. it happens while accelerating, not at idle or while cruising at a steady speed, only when trying to speed up. you can also hear it when u rev it up at a stop but only when u first hit the pedal, if you hold it at a steady increased rpm at a stand still it is not present. I have changed the axles, alt. belt (car has no ac/ps) speedo cable, and various other parts that i don't believe are related to this. I'm starting to think its a water pump or the bearing for the alt pulley going bad...its not a squeaking noise though. I also noticed when getting on the freeway the other day that under heavy acceleration after about 4k rpms it suddenly stopped and the car almost seemed to feel like it had more power at that point. I'm not getting any CEL's, and don't think it's anything internally related as far as the engine goes but don't really know where to look now. could it also be a bad vehicle speed sensor on the tranny? I also noticed my harmonic balancer has a couple chips on it on the outer most point where the belt goes for the ps or ac (not sure) but nothing huge...dont know if that could be related or not. any suggestions would be awesome. thanks for any help!

Exhaust leaking? oO
Just fixed my header leakage. It would only make this kinda wet farting sound while accelerating in gear and first rev in neutral.
Just a thought...

no exhaust leaks, i just put all new exhaust on the car not too long ago

Have you checked belt tension and/or belt condition? 94

tension on the serp belt is good, i replaced the belt less than 6 months ago. havent had a chance to try drivin it without the belt yet
