Default B20B smoggable in a Integra??

Ok fellas, my beater 95 LS integra is about to give up due to its High mileage 225+k miles, its been sucking alot of water and eating oil at the same time, I dont feel like rebuilding the thing and just want to get a replacement engine for it. Ive called around engine shops and the b18b1 are super pricey for its little displacement, and the B20's are so much more affordable and makes more sense, less money for more displacement, anyhow its the smog issue im worry about.
I have herd of guys passing smog with b20s in their integras but never talked to them about how they made that possible, I know its the same engine as the B18b but bigger displacement, and different PVC breather design set-up.

Other than the visual inspection, how can I make the b20b pass the smog inspection in my 95 4door integra?

What state are you smogging in?

From what I know the b20b is classified as a light truck engine and can only be swapped into light truck vehicles (CRV) etc.

Your integra is a passenger vehicle. I dont think it'll work unless you can get around the laws.

You can do anything you want. Doesn't mean it will be legal, but also doesn't mean you will get caught. Having to smog check the car every other year certainly makes it harder to not get caught though.

People who have a B20 in their Civic/Integra get it smogged illegally. That's all there is to it. They find a "hookup" and pay $300-$500 and get it passed. That's the ONLY way to keep a B20 in your car.

Now if you happen to get pulled over and CHP asks to see your engine, your car is automatically impounded. There is absolutely no way for you to explain or justify having a B20 in your car. 10 years ago, we could get away with it but not anymore.

If you still want that B20 you only have two options, an illegal smog or swapping engines every time for smog.

As long as you have a CAT, no check engine light on, no aftermarket parts without a carb sticker, and no major EVAP leaks you will pass no problem. The emissions numbers for them are about the same. If you brought it to my shop and everything look fine as far as the visual and the check engine light not on I would have no problem passing.

You could also get it restamped with a b18b1 engine code people do that alot on stolen blocks. I saw some dude on craigslist that had a b16a1 with a d16z6 stamp on it and it looked semi legit. All you gotta worry about is any officer who knows anything about hondas.

It's not fake. I've known for years that this can be done at the local referee station but that's the first time I've actually seen a BAR label for that swap (sorry, I don't remember which forum the thread was posted on but I do remember him saying where it was done).

Just to show you another "impossible" swap that has a legit BAR label...

Once again, this was done at the same referee station.

Illegal smog was the way I had to go to get my DA done with a B20. Only cost me 200.00 in Long Beach

I have a b20 in my 97, looks stock, and is completely stock... smog techs dont blink an eye at it... now if youre running I/H/E or any other mods.. they may take a second look

my integra passed smog with a b20.. the dumbass kid who sold it to me said that it wouldn't pass because of the motor. took it home inspected it.. did my research and i looked at the car again (mind you im new to smog im from fl) realized my car didn't even have a cat on it -___- just a straight pipe full custom exhaust lol bought a cat and welded it in and plugged up the o2 sensor changed all the fluids and filters.. took it to the little smog place on vegas blvd and it passed with no problem.. they used a sniffer because im ob1.

just get the car retagged by the Cali BAR as a custom and then your all good. it will get a sticker and your all good.

Buddy moved from here to NoCal and took his 96 civic with an h22 swap and he said it just has to meet Smog regs for the year the motor is from and he has a sticker to ID the Engine in the car.

H22 is a passenger vehicle engine and is normally legal to put in any same year or older passenger vehicle chassis.

The B20 is a light duty truck engine, and the rules change radically due to it.

This is the key, if the car looks completely stock a lazy tech won't take the time to check every single detail of the car and likely won't notice that it is the wrong motor for your car, especially if the block has dirt/oil covering everything including the block stamp
